• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

what a mess existence is. what unimaginably bad luck we all have to even exist in the first place. what a mess that we are compelled to take our exit into our own hands. i hope we all find peace

And as Kant would point out, what luck that we evolved (or were given, depending on your religious inclination) to develop a consciousness capable of understanding and being upset by the tragedy of life; I mean, I don't think my cat thinks these thoughts (I hope my cat does not thinks these thoughts)

it has the characteristics of a comedy. as far as we can see, the universe is extremely empty and cold. on this small rock in a far corner of a random galaxy, just the right conditions arose for inorganic compounds to self-replicate, and after hundreds of millions of years of stable conditions, the ability to feel arose, because it gave the self-replicating organisms a better chance and ability to self-replicate. and just by even more chance, one offshoot of these feeling things gained the knowledge of its fate, 200k years ago. a blink of an eye in cosmic terms. and just when we have reached the pinnacle of our abilities of communication and knowledge in the last 200 years, less than a blink in even terrestrial terms, and the truth of our terrible, terrible circumstances can be truly brought into the light, what can we expect but to completely squander our unique ability to potentially put an end to it all (efilism/ promortalism, I.E. pushing our orbit into the sun or otherwise making earth uninhabitable), including the poor cats who cannot possibly understand their destiny, and all the other quadrillions of current and future feeling creatures whose suffering is significant. its no wonder so many believe in a god, and some an evil god; it is just so preposterous that after all of this, WE, you and I, are the ones who experience it. it is the greatest joke ever conceived. i would laugh if i wasn't crying

Well as the great Carl Sagan would put it, "we are a way for the universe to know itself", as a result of all of our matter that makes up our physical bodies being the same matter that was nothing more than cosmic dust eons ago. What can be taken from this then, is if we, the byproduct of our own universe' doing, are a joke within the scale of the universe which we can conceptualize and purport, does that not make both us and the universe one single all-encompassing transcendental joke? I wonder what the punchline is.

honestly i wouldn't say so. if our dust had stayed dust, no harm would have ever been done. the joke is "what if the universe decided to know itself?" we, are the punchline.

Coming into existence is just astronomical amounts of bad luck. At this point my only solace is that we're not immortal which is a very low bar.

it is like sleeping; a welcome respite from existing, but the fact that you wake up at the end essentially negates the benefit. "eternal life is impossible, but immortality is possible by not coming into existence." -Jiwoon Hwang. the solace for me will only arrive when i go to sleep and not wake up.

I hear ya. The rat race, it seems many are just working to pay bills, or just looking for someone to take advantage of.

I agree, this world disgusts me, I hate how we were forced here so unfairly yet denied reliable ways to finally end this existence. I view the existence of life to be a tragedy, life is such an unnecessary cruel mistake and it's so horrific how delusional humans continue to bring life here just to create more torment. There is no benefit to existing, instead there are only ways in which to suffer, and I only see value in managing to finally be free from it all.
