Hi everyone.

If you've read my posts, you may know I've been going through a rough time since a friend of mine passed away on this site.

It hit me harder than I expected. I was chatting with them up until the moment they left, listening to the same music as them. In the moment, I just wanted to comfort them. They had already made their choice, said their goodbyes and started the process. And when I got my goodbye, I asked if they may want to chat until the end.

They did.

The next week was up and down for me. I felt happy they were out of their misery. I felt good about what I did, and that I could experience that with them, because I find it so fucked up that when you die of old age, your whole family is there for you but when you CTB it is always alone. I didn't want them to go out alone.

So I am on a complete down one day. And I have this weird feeling to reach out to a friend of mine from high school who I haven't talked to in years. Idk what it is, I attributed it to the weird mental state I was in and it probably reminded me of my childhood adolescence where the ups and downs were more normalized.

Fast forward two days and I get a call out of the blue from this friend. I answer obviously. I tell him I was just thinking about him yesterday, how weird. He was thinking about me too. He had recently spent some time in a mental hospital for suicidal ideations and was clean and sober now and had this feeling like he wanted to reconnect with me.

We hung out for a bit and went for a drive. He wanted to play me this album that he had been vibing with lately. And he play's the same album that my friend played for me as they CTB.

This is not an iconic album by any means. The band has 130k subscribers and the album is from 2015. The odds of him wanting to play it are so slim to me that I just know this is divine intervention. Like I was a full believer in chaos theory and an atheist most of my life. But what are your thoughts here? How weird is that?

Very occasionally I've had friends with whom I share a connection like that. Crazy weird stuff kept happening. At one point, I even had one of them randomly make contact soon after I was asking the heavens for a 'sign'.

James Redfield's novel the The Celestine Prophecy suggested that coincidences like this are a sign of being on the right path, and having some sort of business to do with the people who show up like that. I can add that most of my life, I've experienced the direct opposite of this - pretty remarkable bad luck that actually defies the expected laws of probability. Perhaps when New Agers talk about being 'in the flow', there is something to it.

The synchronicity is quite epic in your story~

This is an example of how intriguing life and the idea of religion/faith can be. On one hand, we might think some kind of higher power is communicating with you, because such an occurrence is simply too improbable to occur.
On the other, we might think in purely statistical terms; a low probability doesn't equal a zero probability; i.e. anything can happen.

Keep following the lead and see where it takes you :)

Woah, yeah that is insane. Have you told him about it? Be careful if you do want to. Sometimes no matter how much you think you trust a friend they will find a way to betray you.

I'm sensing maybe it's a sign that you two were meant to get healthy and recover together to live on to have great lives but just know that the universe is a nasty piece of work and has done wrong on many poor people and their lives.

I would still have a method for CTB incase this "great whole new chance of life" goes downhill

Sometimes I like to think that the universe or whoever is in charge of our destiny just plays cruel tortuous jokes on us while they laugh

There were times where I thought I got signs from the universe, the whole "meant to be" type of shit but it was just again a big old joke and ofcourse it went down from there.

That is an interesting take that I didn't consider. I will say that since the day this happened, I've been a lot more aware and a lot of bizarre coincidences have come together that have really changed my outlook on life. For the better, or the worse, only time will tell.

And your later comments on the universe playing tricks on you has always been a lingering fear of mine as well. The thought that this could all be some twisted game where the moment I decide to leave, all this happens to try to reel me back in.

But what motivation would there be for that sort of twisted perception of the universe? And if for some reason this were the case, I think I would be more afraid of what comes next then what I am experiencing now. Because anything with that sort of power and intent could clearly make me experience much worse if it wanted to.

For things like this coincidences are generally the best explanation unless there is sufficient evidence that suggests otherwise. But I get your inclination to interpret it as something more meaningful. What do you think his playing the same album was supposed to signify?

I don't have a clue. It just threw me off guard. I've been a skeptic agnostic my whole life, so I get where your coming from. I would have said the same thing, but for some reason coming to terms with CTB for me meant coming to terms with whatever lies beyond our universe, and that killed my preconceived notion that everything must apply to the laws of our universe as we see it.

Honestly, the human in me just wishes it could be in any way related to the friend I let go. But my unobjective opinion is that it was just a wake up call. At the end of the day it is only myself that can choose to accept or reject the significance of it. Even if it is all my own doing and the significance of it is just in my head, then that too is just as powerful. I hope that makes sense...

It's impossible to confirm absolutes as it relates to death/afterlife. People can say that based on NDEs we know there is a bright light, or that there's nothing, but in reality, what if their minds cannot rationalize the truth and therefore block or change the experience? It happens all the time with trauma victims. I had things happen after my father passed away several years ago and again when a close friend passed away four years ago that makes me believe that there is something after this. No one can say for sure, because we don't have metrics to measure or facility to explore. Both cases involve faith - either that there is something afterwards, or there is nothingness. Death is a veil that obscures what happens. We can only see behind the veil once we pass through it.

Has anything else happen?
I would love a sign like you had so bad. I've been reaching out to my spirit guides. guardian angels, ancestors etc whatever to give me a sign/help me SOMETHING ANYTHING for some hope to live on but nope I've gotten nothing and bad things are happening to me so I take that as a sign that it's my time to cross over

Just on this point, it turns out that the movie adaptation is freely available on YouTube. I showed it to a friend last night and ironically it ended up being just what I needed. A fun movie for anyone open to spiritual teachings.
