I can't believe I got N after all these years of acquiring other stuff to kill myself. Like some of you good people on here, I was going with the SN method. My mother died terribly from cancer and those images of her suffering have stuck with me for years. I wish she had have been able to acquire something like N and I feel guilty that she didn't have access to it like I do. If only I had that knowledge and was the person I was now, she and I could have went out together. Peacefully. I died when she did anyway, and I am now nothing more than a living empty vessel of regret, sadness and guilt. I became a member of the dignity of dying movement in the UK but it isn't enough. People who are terminally ill and have chronic physical and mental health problems are being denied access to peaceful methods of dying. Yes, there are some places like Dignitas and Pegasos but they are not accessible to everybody and cost a fortune. It's just not right that we have to beg to die. If we have the compassion to put a dog (incredible species btw) to sleep then we should have the same compassion for humans as well. Change is too slow in this world and it hurts to know that. It really hurts. :'(

I think suicide prevention at all costs pushes people into some very dark places. And sometimes that cost is enormous. But what matters is that people no longer have to reckon with it, if it happens in the dark. I'm sorry you're going through this and hope things get better somehow.

Yes, I agree. Sometimes people are meant to get better and some people aren't. Me being the latter. I am just grateful for this community and everything it stands for. It's just a shame that the rest of the world who are in denial can't see that.

It really is a cruel world we live in where people have to die painful and traumatic deaths. We all deserve the option of a peaceful exit at a time of our own choosing, it should be a human right. I do wish we lived in a society where the right to die is respected. Suicide should not be so stigmatised, in a world as horrible as this wanting to die can be perfectly rational. It is the only thing that makes sense for me.

My mom died of cancer too, she just wanted peace and comfort in her last days but that did not happen due to her being in incredible pain that nothing helped. It is very cruel not to allow people a way to end their suffering if they want it.
