I have prestone windshield de icer. The can says it contains ethylene glycol ( 197-21-1) and methanol (67-56-1) plus carbon dioxide 124-38-9). It gives a warning that if swallowed it could be fatal or cause blindness. What are your thoughts on this, would it be fatal if ingested?

Most likely it will end with (temporaryly??) organ problems and you will be blind.
And there is the vegetable question for your brain after swalloing that stuff. And you don't know what other chemicals are inside that mix.

EG and methanol are both fatal to humans but you will spend your last hour in pain and vomiting like crazy. Be aware that if you fail, the you risk blindness, kidney damage and brain damage for the rest of your life.

I tried with both methanol (80 mL) and ethylene glycol (120 mL) and I have no idea how but I'm still there with perfect eyesight, even though I drank a lot more methanol than needed to make me blind. Not recommending.
Concentrated methanol tastes awful, as if something was trying to dry out your mouth and stabbing your tongue. I got a bit drunk but it ended about 2 hours after drinking.
On the other hand ethylene glycol poisoning was pretty pleasant besides the headaches I was getting from simply standing up. It was sweet (but in a weird way, I mixed it with water and maybe that's why it didn't work but idk?) and I was "drunk" but in the other way than from ethanol. For example, when I was trying to put a finger on my cheek, it landed in my eye instead. Also, I was speaking a lot slower.
No vomiting and other problems like that at all. Only some lower back ache which ended after ~3 days.
I still have the vials from which I drank them and they remind me of this weird and unthinkable event of my life.Similar threads
