I've been thinking and scheming and trying to think of any way I could get my hands on pentobarbital. I found a post on reddit where someone made sodium pentobarbital crystals, and one of the commentators said that it's drug that almost any chemistry degree graduate could manufacture. If that's so, I wish there was someone making it somewhere a la Walter White. Since you can get high off pentobarbital at small doses, any manufacturer could claim they were making it as a recreational drug (as opposed to a euthanasia agent,). Anyhoo, sorry that wasnt the point of this thread.

In the absence of anyone making pentobarital in their trailer, I was thinking - what if I were to volunteer at an animal shelter? My question is - do these places generally keep a supply of euthasol (the only vet brand I know of) or are they ordered in only when they know they are planning to euthanise an animal? Is anyone privy to the inner workings of shelters? Thank you

Animal shelters don't usually have it. They rely on vets for euthanasia mostly. If they do have it it will be kept securely locked in a dangerous drugs cabinet and under cctv. Please do not get an animal shelter in huge trouble with the law by trying to do this. You will be breaking the law and given the drug involved, the penalty will be serious and you'll have to ctb in jail. I'm really angry you're even suggesting this.

Hey so I've thought about doing this too. I asked my friend whos a receptionist/vet assistant at a clinic and she said for euthanasia they do a combination of 2 or 3 drugs (one of which I forget the names of) and none of them are pento. One of them was phenobarbital I know that. But I think there is a shortage of pentobarbital everywhere in north america as they're just not making the drug like that anymore. She also noted that the euthanasia drugs are stored in a safe and that only licensed vets are allowed to know the code. So you're likely out of luck.

When I worked in a vet clinic I noticied they did have pentorbital but it was in a safe that was only unlocked during surgery time so there was no way to sneak it out

You might need to find a country abroad that may have some possibility of access but even that window is likely closed by now.

It's along process, and the likelihood of taking the euthanasia without being unnoticed (or the euthanasia being out to be taken) is unlikely. SN seems like a better option (or many others)

The golden age of some of that stuff was unfortunately like 5 years ago. I should've just done this then.
