This one hits home for me.

Robbins, who had bipolar disorder, told Fox 5 San Diego in 2019 after completing a prison sentence for making criminal threats, that "I would recommend to anybody that has bipolar disorder to take it seriously because your life can turn around in the span of a month like it did to me. I came out of prison and I'm a better person for it. I'm much more humble and grateful and thankful that I lived through the experience."

I too have bipolar and was arrested for idiotic stuff I did while highly delusional/manic/psychotic, though not quite as serious as his multiple arrests and stints in jail/prison. It saddens me to see his quote about "turning your life around" and then he ends up dying by suicide anyway. If someone with a strong reputation as a famed character and the resources that come along with that can't make it, what hope do I have? Obviously I know fame/wealth don't mean a ton when we're talking about this sort of stuff-nevertheless it saddens me greatly both as a fan of the old Charlie Brown specials as well as someone with the same mental issues to see him try to rally after so many setbacks and then throw in the towel. Needless to say, I "get it". It has been tough for me to see how many people on SS suffer from bipolar; it seems to be its own unique version of hell for each person who has it.

well we all go eventually. 'mental illness',medications, past trauma, present trauma, etc. eventually we will be at our wits end. The best people can hope for is that 'something' extends our stay here. I'm hoping for a cat to ease some of my trauma. And winning the lottery wouldn't hurt.

His job wasn't that good?

He probably just sat around collecting royalties.

Have you ever been unemployed for a long time, but not have to worry about money? It's bad for your mental health sat around all day doing nothing. All your friends working 9-5 whilst he is doing nothing.

Swear those jobs are the worst where you get rich and don't work again. Nothing to occupy the day, everyone else around you working.

Lonely life.

It's kind of sad how the human brain prevents us from being happy unless we are chasing some kind of carrot.

I remember reading about how the creator of Minecraft felt that his life was pointless after he became rich, and that he felt isolated from all of his friends who still had jobs, goals, and aspirations. So even if you accrued unimaginable wealth, your brain would ruin it by asking "Now what?"

I know I've felt that horrible feeling when I was at my lowest, dealing with crushing depression. Living in a room that had a door but too blind to see it. People telling me to leave that dark room but me being frustrated because I couldn't see a way out.

to be fair to him he did live a fairly long time while battling his mental illness. Maybe his fame and success actually pushed him along a little further than most. I have bipolar depression and there is no way I will even make 40, never mind 60 something. I think he did really well considering what he had to endure.
