  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I've heard of people dying from playing a video game too long or beating a high score and passing away from a heart attack..

What are your guys thoughts on this?

I don't normally view 'excessive' video game playing as an addiction, but I make an exception in the case of people who neglect themselves or others for a video game. There has to be a reason for escapism greater than the video game abuse, however. I wouldn't recommend neglecting your physical health until you expire, it would be a miserable way to go, and there would be no dignity in it. Outside of that, as far as heart and epilepsy are concerned, those are very real concerns for gamers with health conditions. Particularly intense horror games could likely cause an overexertion of stress on the person, which could lead to worsening health issues or perhaps even a heart attack. Epilepsy too can be cause for concern with games with psychadelic colors and flashing screens. Again, I wouldn't advise abusing your health conditions in this way in order to expire, as it would likely only increase your suffering, and have no dignity in the act.
