Use SN Before Expiry Date

I asked the person I bought SN off it can be used for any time after the expiry date and the reply was:

'For the effective duration of SN, do try to use it prior to the expiry date. Beyond the expiry, effectiveness dramatically decreases.'

From what I've heard… nearly indefinitely. Many medications last years past the expiration date.. the potency drops, but they are still usable. I'm not sure if SN potency drops, but fairly certain that it CAN last for years past expiration when properly sealed. Hopefully someone who might know better will chime in.

Once opened and unsealed it will be exposed to more oxygen, which will start to change its chemical compound, and will eventually turn into sodium nitrate.
