Thanks to all who wished me luck on my last post, I love you guys!
So, after trying partial suspension and failing to pass out this time for some reason, I got frustrated and downed a shit ton of medication and alcohol. I felt asleep quickly and it would have worked, BUT a family member came home 5 hours earlier and called an ambulance.
So I had my stomach pumped while choking and throwing up all over myself, then spent a day at ICU with no clothes. I do not recommend.
Now I'm locked up at psych ward for a month min, while all of my problems are piling up to hit me once I leave. So that's nice

I swear, as soon as I get out, I'm booking a hotel room. Can't even kill myself without someone barging into my room, smh. Third time's the charm, they say!

Oh, hang on there. Seems like every fail story ends up with relative calling an ambulance.. And basically everytime it's OD'ing on OTC drugs. Wish you all the luck in that prison.. Hugs <3

I wish you the best of luck this month. It is going to be hard - you're forced to live another month. But don't attempt in the psych ward. Thats the most important thing - you'll most likely fail and moreover it will only get you locked up for longer. Tell them what they want to hear, wear your smiling mask and get out as soon as you can!

Ugh that would suck so bad. Sorry you have to go through this. At least u know they can't hold u indefinitely. Just wait it out, it won't be that bad hopefully. Next time you gotta ensure u will not be bothered for at least a whole day if not longer just to be sure there's no chance u will be rescued. This is something I realize I absolutely will need to be sure of depending on what method I use.

I've been inpatient before, got out in three weeks with extremely good behaviour (and I wasn't even suicidal back then). People who tried to kill themselves usually stayed 2-3 months, and they won't let you out if they think you might hurt yourself.
Luckily, this is my first time being IP due to a suicide attempt, so with some smiling, convincing, and showing regret, I might get out in a month, but it's possible I'll be forced to stay longer.

Those involuntary 72 hours in the US (and elsewhere maybe) sure sound like a dream to me!:ahhha:

YOU'D BE SURPRISED!!!!!!

I ended up in hospital and couldn't get out. Committed through court. Mandatory inpatient followed by mandated outpatient. Thing is, hospital made me sound really, really bad when contacting outpatients, so no one would agree to see me.

My options were residential treatment across the state (parents agreed to pay) or state hospital indefinitely.

I went with residential bc all the state hospitals around here have terrible abuse stories about them in the news. My dad printed off a whole packet of news articles stapled together to help convince me (yeah, it worked).

I was gone in "treatment" for over a year.

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely wait until I'm released and my relatives stop watching my every step. I have to make sure nothing comes in my way the next time. Until then, I'll just roll with it!
It's not so bad here, I stay holed up in my room and read my favourite books, so I think I can make it quite easily:happy:

Yeah, it really depends on the country. In some cases, you just have to stay 72 hours and you're done. Here, if they don't trust you enough to let you out, it's 3 months in the hospital psych ward and then an institution - indefinitely. And you can't get out by yourself.

Just look how hard it is. It's horrendous that they lock you up in such an unfamiliar and unpleasant place to "better up". what a bs. You should be at home. I wish you a quick and safe return, 79.

Always such solid, well-articulated advice. Jesus, you should write your own version of the PPeH with all of your tips!

Until recently, you would face 1 year of imprisonment here for suicide attempt.

In the USA, they will involuntarily bankrupt you too to 'improve' your situation when you are finally released.

Just like they did with the Vietnam veterans? No problematic people = no problems. You're useless now so fuck you. Like that?
