I'm not sure whether they are checking on any other sources other than IC (now closed down) and I imagine by now- most people will have already received a visit. That said- a person buying from a different source and delivered to Australia did receive a welfare check the other day. So- I guess it's possible. I'm sure they will only clamp down harder and harder as the suicide rate using it increases.

But- regarding IC and Kenneth Law- that whole sting is because they are bringing charges against him for deaths in Canada and it's obvious they want to include international suicides also. The initial welfare checks were sort of just that- to see if people were ok but I get the strong impression this was more to do with international police cooperation with Canada in building their case. Some of us have consequently been contacted by detectives in the police force to gather more information.

That said- even if you do receive a check, it doesn't necessarily mean it will be confiscated. It is a legal substance. I suspect it depends on who you get in terms of police officer. Plus- it will depend on how 'at risk' they think you are I assume. While I certainly didn't enjoy my check- the officers that came to me were reasonable. I was fairly honest too and told them I had bought it for future use- should I come down with a debhilitating illness. They obviously would have prefered to take it but- they let me keep it and put me in touch with The Crisis helpline. That was an even more unpleasant experience but I only had a couple of calls with them.

That's good. I've always found the police to be very reasonable and decent people, despite the woke media trying to tarnish their name at every opportunity.

Yeah- I think it heavily depends on who you get. Some people didn't have so good experiences. I think it depends on how you treat them also. I was (probably too) honest and forthcoming. Really because I felt like it shoudn't be necessary for me to lie. Suicide isn't illegal. Neither is SN. I wanted to have a rational discussion with them and I suppose it went as well as it could have.

Some people were saying how they were going to block them at the door and insist on seeing a search warrant. I guess we have the right to do that but I imagine- saying stuff like that makes it look like you have something to hide. I think- speaking to them aggressively will likely just put their backs up and they're more likely to use more aggression/ force back to get the job done.

That's all it is at the end of the day- ticking boxes. They have to act on the (poor) intelligence they get. In many UK cases, they informed people it was an annonymous tip off- when they likely got our details when they arrested Kenneth Law and investigated IC. Plus- they refered to it as a kit and- nitrate several times. I thought- for God's sake- don't get that bit wrong! I don't want the bomb squard round here next.

But yeah- they just need to be reasured that you aren't in imminant danger of killing yourself and that you are aware of the support that is available. Beyond that- what can they do? Unless someone is acting irrationally enough to be sectioned, it's a legal substance. (At the moment.)

Indeed, if you treat people with respect then you'll usually receive it in turn. Your age no doubt helped too. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I believe you mentioned that you were in your forties?

I had a friend in the police, he left cause of all the paperwork. Plus that they were now apprehensive about confronting people with all the cameras involved and the fact that they're sued at every turn for every mistep..

Sectioning is a whole nother story. I feel so bad for people that have had to experience that. The requirements have always baffled me.

Yes, you are right they will have a list of names that's why they are able to link him to so many people who CTB. When I bought my SN from eBay years ago they shut him down but he handed over his list of purchasers and I got a welfare visit at 3 am, lucky I had insomnia not many people say that and I answered the door, but no one else got woken up.

Well, I don't think we know his motives as of yet or who he might be associated with. On face value, it looks like he's helping this community, but we don't know whether he got a kick from it like HS I guess.

Idk anything about the guy but I'm worried about this getting people riled up and affecting other sources, this site, etc.

I had a second police visit yesterday, thankfully none of my family was home. It was two people not in uniform & they turned up in an unmarked car.

They wanted to know if I wanted to make a statement about purchasing SN or provide evidence of the purchase, but I didn't have to provide anything. I said I didn't want to & I was feeling a lot better now and they said that was ok.

I asked would there be any further visits to my house & they said there shouldn't be any more, as far as they were concerned that was the end of my involvement in the investigation. Hope so anyway.

I wouldn't worry too much. Investigations take a very long time, and since multiple countries are conducting their own there will be a lot of news coverage. Some people (myself included) received follow up calls to ask for info but nobody is compelled to be involved any further as nobody except KL has done anything illegal.
