I am watching UK Parliament live, Prime Minister's Questions. A question has just been asked about the PPH, and it's availability.

Prime Minister's reply, in essence, is that the Minister for Suicide Prevention is working with Amazon and others to rethink what they make available online.

Sorry, this is just a very brief and far from complete summary of what was being said, but it does seem that "something is being done" and everything is going to get more difficult.

Sorry Vincent, I do not know how to post any sort of link to a TV transmission, but if if helps you or other clever people to track it down, the question was framed by Nicky Morgan, Conservative MP for Loughborough, and was put out on BBC2 Politics Live prog about 1235 +/- today.

There's a number of reasons for an ever rising suicide rate in the UK, as well Thicky Morgan knows, or should do.

I doubt any availability of pro choice literature on Amazon UK is a primary cause.

Perhaps while the Minister for Suicide Prevention is having a natter with Amazon, they could politely request they start paying some tax and treating their employees with some dignity

They wouldn't want to upset their main party funders !

Of course. The bankers want your taxes, so they'll keep us all alive as long as possible. We're all cattle to them after all. We are already in a perpetual slavery with usury. If they made suicide legal everywhere, I guarantee a lot would take their lives to get out of this hell hole of a world we live in. To break the chains of debt enslavement, and what not.

It's not really going to affect anything. Just trying to make companies think about what they sell and publish online.
I don't think 99% of people actually have a hard copy of PPH handbook. They can't regulate what's on the internet or prevent anyone who seriously wants to ctb. Most suicides aren't using methods from PPH. They force people to take extreme measures instead!!!

Corruption exists. And if you follow the money, it always leads to it. And as long as there is good, there will always be in evil in this world. And sadly, evil always wins.

I doubt most people know what the PPH is so by 'name and shaming' it in Parliament, all they've done is give it extra publicity. Thanks

Wait... Did they actually talked explicitly about the book? Your politicans seem very aware of things.
Here no one talks about it. I would even go as far as say that only a handful of people know about it.

It's not simply a matter of the availability of the PPH - the greater point is that the methods and resources upon which we rely are coming under increasing scrutiny.
There is a Health Minister with a specific brief to prevent suicide.
Things are inevitably going to get harder

"specific brief to prevent suicide" , or Appear to be , their usual tactic to anything , like pollution, global warming etc is to tax it , he/she will no doubt have put forward a "deterrent" tax of taking all a suicide victims assets and property off them if they commit suicide

To be fair, the Conservative government like to appear to be doing things and making out they have massive power over the internet. Look at their bizarre recent attempt at preventing people accessing p0rn, which they have quiety kicked in to the long grass.

Yes, they may persuade Amazon to stop listing books like the PPH, but afaik it isn't illegal in the UK anyway and it was only a PMQ which Morgan probably had brought to her attention by a constituent.

That was the law in England until 1870. The principle was known as "escheat"

I do kind of agree with banning PPeH on Amazon, just to protect the organization publishing it. They're able to produce and update the book by sticking to rules like making sure it doesn't get into the hands of an impulsive 12 year old with access to mommy and daddy's credit card.
Wait... Did they actually talked explicitly about the book? Your politicans seem very aware of things.
Here no one talks about it. I would even go as far as say that only a handful of people know about it.

I wouldn't make that link. There are many things that are well-known but not discussed openly, because any discussion increases utilization and access of the item. This is also why the media generally doesn't report on suicides, why there's been changes in what info they report in mass shootings, etc.

In the context of keeping us alive to be slaves, I'm not sure. I've cost the system more in consultants' time and fees, with my health problems, than I'll ever give back in taxes. If corruption exists it would've been more economical for the system to let people like me die than make me live

I agree. Many of us can't work or we're are under-employed if we can work at all. Then many of us consume massive amounts of medical care to treat our vast array of serious physical & mental issues. Nobody is keeping me around to be a cash cow that supports society. My death clearly wouldn't cause any economic harm.

It's funny that if you're a hamster or a rat, assisted dying is readily available, but if you're human, society will actively fight you if you want to die.

I'm not talking primarily about suicidal people in general, but those of us who are seriously ill, should have access to the proper pharmaceuticals and care so we can go in peace.
