• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Two people on two helplines have told me that they would not talk directly about suicide or assistance in dying!, During my contact with them during the last two Years. Nor would they allow me to speak about it openly on one forum with other people.

Which is ironic. One helpline was a chronic illness helpline and the other, a mental health chat forum. They either quoted their rules or pro-life stance as a reason for disallowing me to speak frankly.

Here is man who lives with chronic pain and illness. Desperation pushed me to seeking help. Well, the upshot resulted in no help.

Is this the usual response !?.

All I know is that people on helplines (tbf I've only gone to suicide helplines) are taught to try and deascelate the situation if you're thinking about hrting yourself. They won't talk about it and instead direct your attention elsewhere.

People are dangerously pro-life, they will never understand unless they've been there a long time themselves. It's not something I see changing in the next decade or so,, though assisted death is slowly becoming more talked about and legalised.

It's something I've really struggled with when talking on other forums,, they will immediately bombard you with positivity when in reality you just wish to be listened to.

I don't know what the usual response is but I'm sorry you were treated like this. Have you tried the Samaritans? I don't know how much practical help they can offer but they do allow you to talk about suicide. You might want to check out their website for their rules about confidentiality.

I think that any kind of helplines are completely useless, I hate how the subject of suicide is so stigmatised and cannot even be discussed openly, like we are all going to die someday and there could never be anything wrong with choosing to exit at a time of our own choosing. There are so many people who exist in denial of the fact that life isn't always worth enduring and prolonging so it doesn't even surprise me that people avoid the subject of suicide. I think that the thought of death being preferable to life scares many people. But certainly it's a waste of time trying to talk to some pro lifers, they won't even try to understand.

Pretty much what others have said here. These 'helplines' are not very helpful and they are (by design) there to prevent one from CTB'ing, harming oneself, and/or thinking about CTB as an option. They will do so by any means necessary, such as distractions, platitudes, and even (not uncommon) go as far as to forcibly intervene by sending law enforcement, authorities, and what not to detain/hold someone against their will.

Suicide will never be able to be openly discussed because of the way those cockroaches think.

Most of these people don't want a discussion about suicide, they just want to act like it's non existent or that you must be mad for even bringing it up. That's why I love this place, it allows open discussions to be had, which I honestly feel has helped more than anything else.
