*trigger warning*

I have a strange form of self harm, one where instead of cutting as I have so many scars on my body, I now try and take my blood using the proper needles and vacutainor tubes. Im generally pretty rubbish at it and have even tried the butterfly needle which is meant to be easier. I end up with lots of bruising all over my arms. Any one else do something similar? Or is it just me that's the odd one.

I did this until a month or so ago. I ended up pretty sick and needing a blood transfusion. Truthfully, I miss it. It's discrete and satisfying

It certainly is discreet and satisfying. Any tips on getting it right? I have watched countless videos but still seem to fail quite abit x

Have a hot shower (and even do it in the shower!) because it helps get the veins up a bit. Back of the hand and the thumb side of the wrist was always a winner for me. If you're slim and your veins are shallow, you may have luck in the crook of your elbow too

Thanks for the tips. I started using the back of my hand. Will give it another go using the shower etc. Did you use the tubes to collect or bags?

I would just use a cannula and let it free flow into a container. I got pretty bad with it - I ended up losing around 2 litres in 7 to 10 days which is what got me really sick. Be careful with it x
