Anyone else tried everything for their depression/ptsd? I've pretty much done it all. 4 years of therapy including emdr. All the meds, ketamine infusions, ECT(gave me a bunch of permanent memory loss) neurofeedback, craniosacral therapy, tms, and recently just did psilocybin assisted therapy and ya it just made it worse. Some of us are truly treatment resistant. At least when I finally get the guts to ctb I can be proud that I tried everything to get better..thanks for coming to my Ted Talk <3

I'm sorry to hear that, I can see why you want to ctb. No pressure or anything, but why don't you have the guts?

I've been lonely for a long while and I'd like to move on.

Yeah I get that, its terrifying of having to deal with more when you just want to go. Have you found enjoyment in nothing since you were a kid? If you don't mind me asking?

What do you like about animals? (Please don't let it be torture)

I enjoy general life moments with other people, game I like, anime I watch, but being lonely can be hard and I have no reason that is worth sticking around. Being alive is boring ya' know?

No not at all! Their innocence and ability to just live in the moment . My dogs unconditional love he gives. Being alive is so boring. I spend so much time doom scrolling

Glad to hear it, animals are adorable fr fr. Dogs sure are nice, I've thought about seeing a dog at some dog shelter but mum wouldn't allow it, I also feel weird about the morals of having pets.

I read a book about Finding hope in depression, it was a really nice book (even if I don't care to take it seriously anymore) I could share some ideas if you still want to try some stuff before the end?

The book is called Lost Connections by Johann Hari. It was a really refreshing read, I recommend it a ton fr. (No I'm not secretly Johann Hari.)

The main point was that depression is just a sign that you're disconnected from things you actually need. Here is what it mentioned:
  • Work with actual freedom: Doing stuff where you have zero control or say just wears you down. You need to feel like you matter.
  • Real connections: Loneliness is brutal fr. We need people we can be 100% real with without getting judged.
  • Intrinsic values: Chasing money or status is a trap. True happiness comes from internal stuff like growth and helping people.
  • Nature: Getting outside around trees or animals resets your system. We aren't meant to be trapped inside staring at screens.
  • Community: Volunteering or joining a group gives you a reason to get out and connects you to something bigger.
  • Releasing trauma: Pushing down old hurts just traps them in your body. You gotta talk about it with someone you trust to let it go.
I hope one of these help out.

I'm always down to talk about anime, games, or literally whatever. No pressure, but I'm here.

I was in a depressive funk so I joined a gardening group and it was pretty nice for a while, but I got banished so ya' know back to dying.

I've been wanting to say that I really like your username for a really long time..

I kinda feel the same way without trying any medication or therapy if that makes sense..I tried some supplements though, but they didn't help much.

I am just at a point where I feel like I've thrown the kitchen sink at it, but life has just upended everything. I've come to the realisation that what I have is an intractable condition - bipolar disorder+BPD+PTSD+OCD and that no amount of medication or therapy is going to change that fundamentally..

Have you tried Paroxetine? It is the strongest of all SSRI. Out of 5 SSRI/SNRI it was the only one that actually made a difference.

Then you could even try some stronger oldschool medications, like tricyclic antidepressants.

If you find a good doctor he may agree to try Nardil, which is a MAO inhibitor. This is the nuclear option, but it shows really promising results for treatment resistant depression, especially when anhedonia is involved.

You and me are one in the same. I live right now for my dog. I have not tried psilocybin yet. You actually confirmed my fear of it making me worse. Have you tried any stimulant meds? My psych did prescribe them to me as they are used off label for TRD. They help somewhat. Can I ask what your brain injury is and did it cause your depression? I am at a loss as to why I am like this. No mental illness in my family.

Yes it helped for a bit then stopped. Nardil you have to be strict with diet Im not good with that

I havent . I assumed they would make my anxiety worse. Psilocybin helps some people a lot though. It was a high dose and freaked me out so maybe at a lower dose it would have been effective
