I hope your pain comes to an end. It's such a shame that the world hasn't been kinder to you and that this is the only way to escape your suffering now, but no one with any empathy can begrudge your decision. May you finally find the peace you seek.

Thank you for the well wishes and rest in peace qrsals.

As an aside, this member joined last Monday and this goodbye thread was only their third post. We will never get to know this person, the potential they felt was lost nor what challenges they faced. No one even bothered to ask. While I understand the value in choice, I also wonder if the community is sometimes too eager to bid adieu.

I think thats a natural result of a community of people going through mental health issues, suicidality and depression. We do what we can here.

Yeah I get it. I'm not trying to condemn the community, just nudge to mindfulness. I guess the assumption with a goodbye thread is that the person has done their research, explored all recovery options to no avail and committed to their planned exit. The quick turn-around time between their becoming a member and exiting the world took me aback.

I haven't been around here for long, but I've actually had the same thought. It's just impossible for us to know who's indeed here for a quick goodbye and who might just be in urgent need of a "How are you?".

But like you said, I don't think it's the community's responsibility. That's what pro-choice is all about. I just feel like, once you get involved in someone's story too much or you might even advise them against suicide, you'll probably feel very guilty when they end up doing it anyway.

It's beautiful how strangers all over the world can offer this kind of peace and closure to one another. But we're still strangers, in the end.

Sorry this got so long, but it's been on my mind as well. Either way, I hope this kind soul found their peace...
