I've always had a horrifying fear of bureaucracy. It is a process that reduces humans to numbers with files.

My spouse loves wildflowers to the point that she does not like to have the yard mowed. We received a citation for it. We mowed the lawn and the citation was dismissed. The city sent us a letter and form stating that the citation was dismissed and there was no fine or court date.

Then today I have a warrant issued for my arrest for failing to appear for the same citation. I know it is a mistake in paper work. But I still got arrested, fingerprinted, photographed and have a court date. And I don't matter. Only the documents matter.

I'm sorry that happened to you, seems severe over a citation regarding a lawn. I don't have a problem with all bureaucracy, existence itself is a form of bureaucracy. I would blame the cops who actually went through with it after you surely explained the situation. If not at the point of taking you in, then at the station. They had a choice to let it go, could've even decided to come back another time.

My father owned a c-store when I was young. These "armfuls" interfered with our means to survive. Really easy for you to say that until it happens to you.

No ones talking about mom-and-pop stores, which are all but dead now thanks to big business and consolidation. My local cvs store now has most things behind locked plexiglass. cvs is a pos giant that treats/pays its workers, including pharmacists poorly. all that wage theft helps them make more money so they can accumulate even more market share and have less competition. Absurd inequality, homelessness on the rise, retail theft I imagine goes up too. Oh and all the while record breaking profits across many sectors.

My local cvs store now has most things behind locked plexiglass. cvs is a pos giant that treats/pays its workers, including pharmacists poorly. all that wage theft helps them make more money so they can accumulate even more market share and have less competition. They're probably offered benefits like insurance as well. Pharmacists have the freedom to open their own independant dispenseries, but most don't because these chains like CVS already offer a opt notch turnkey operation and customer base.

Even if there were infinite jobs available, we all know damn well these looters still wouldn't work. And they don't discriminate on who they'll steal from. Big corp or mom and pop, they'll take from anyone.

I have 4 different friends that do quite well owning their own pharmacies. 2 of these 4 are a married couple that have 3 different locations. So it can be done. It may not be easy, but CVS certainly isn't standing in their way. If you don't have an acumen for the business side of things in addition to the pharmacy aspect, than you have to work for people that do. I can tell you that the stress of owning your own pharmacy isn't less than what you'd experience working for CVS. Plain and simple.

As for my "glowing review"? Well, I like the fact that I can click a few buttons on an app and have my medication refilled without talking to a single person. I like that CVS has the most seamless and efficient pipeline of communication and acceptance with virtually all insurance companies. The day that the mom and pops can offer all of that, I will happily transer all of my prescriptions over in support.

$16 an hour for no work experience or skin in the game? I'd say that is fair. I wouldn't say it's unfair. And if you think you're worth more at another place than go to the other place. Do you honestly believe that mom and pop would voluntarily pay more than that if they didn't have to? Some of the greediest and stingiest people I know are independant small business owners. They steal employee tips, cheat on taxes. You name it.

$500 million in retail theft at Target alone last year. You don't think that effects those of use who choose to pay for our things? But that and everything else aforementioned is besides the point. Retail theft is just an example I used. Of course there are much worse problems. But generally speaking, I just don't understand the logic of retaliating one wrong with another. And these looters aren't stealing from CVS because they have a grudge with the fact that the CEO of CVS probably making $10 million a year. They probably don't know or even care. They loot and steal because they're shitty, lazy, selfish, useless people. And they're fcking everywhere now. No crime should be condoned. Whether it's white collar, blue collar or no collar.

And what are you insinuating when you say "Ah, I get u now."? First of all, I said "looters wouldn't work" not "people". You really think the thugs that are going around stealing catalytic converters are all of sudden going to be like "Oh, now I can go work a 9-5 at an office" at the slightest onset of a booming job market? C'mon, now.
