All my life i've been extremely kind to people. I've helped so many people out with money troubles, shelter, all sorts of things. I put everyone else before me. But that ends now. I barely have enough to afford lunch during break at college, i can't be lending money to anyone, let alone people i barely know. My first instinct is always to be helpful. After breaking up with my girlfriend for only giving a shit about her own feelings and not mine, i feel different. I'm done with being selfless. Starting today, i'm all about myself and myself only. Fuck everyone else...people love to take advantage.

Sounds like you were being perhaps overly generous and accommodating with plenty of room to look out for yourself a bit more without it being acting like an asshole. You don't need to lend money to people you barely know, etc.
