19 yrs old, moved to Texas a few years back and now I am an official resident of TX, with a Texas driving license. I've heard that you can buy a gun just with ID, but is it really as simple as just showing up to the gun store? Also, what story should I give/what should I say to the workers to not come across as suspicious? I have no criminal records or nothing, but I was prescribed Wellbutrin in a different state, would that prevent me from getting a gun? I know virtually nothing about guns, so any recommendations on for shotguns/shells would also be very helpful. Thanks

I don't know anything about Texas except that don't they just give you a gun when you enter the state? 🤦 All kidding aside, just be careful on the form if they ask you anything about mental health issues, I guess. I can't see why you would have disclose medications. If they quiz you about why you want the shotgun (which would surprise me) just say for hobby, fun, self-defense, etc. Just go with a 12 gauge of some sort. And go out somewhere and practice it and have fun!

I just got one, no stories and no process. They told me they did a back ground check but I doubt. I'm in America, getting a gun like buying a candy.

Go into store and ask lol, if yiu want to look like you belong and are in the hobby ask for a specific model(mossberg 300) or even just say you need something for home defense and theyll probably get you a few options to look at

Really??? Last I knew there were no age restrictions on Hershey 🙄🙄🙄...."shall not be infringed..." pretty simple. Background checks on shotguns vary by state and retailer. It's not a federal requirement.

A 12ga Remington 870 and you want to use it for home defense with 00 buckshot. You've got it easy in Texas. The bureaucratic bullying I had to go through to get my guns in New Zealand was ridiculous.
