I won't do it, but I'm planning to take SN and seeing a SN CTB made me very comforted about mine when the time comes.
I won't do it either. I also thought watching a SN CTB video would terrify me and discourage me from doing it. It is interesting for me that it has comforted you. Thank you for sharing. So you watched something that seemed peaceful (don't know if that's the right word for it).

I'd do it if my method was jumping (to show others how much pain I was truly in to go to that length ) but since mine is SN. I feel like there's no point (as there's already been 2 recorded SN suicides)

How do you all feel about recordings of suicide? Do you view them frequently? Would you consider recording your own suicide?
Neutrally. I think I'm kind of desensitized to such content. There's some traumatizing suicide footage. You can see a person that dies horribly or their gored body or that in a state of decay. But this is life, death and dying isn't pretty. On the other side, you can see the images of people who seem to CTB peacefully without much struggle, such cases don't get footage but sometimes publicized as 'study cases' in the forensic literature. Footage from war is more horrible and posted much more frequently than suicide recordings and people seem to be fine with it. Just check that war-related telegram channels where videos of young males being murder droned in just an entertainment for the local public. I think I'll be fine with recording of my CTB If it could help in promoting the choice of fast and painless suicide methods over bloody ones so people won't turn in the things you see on shock sites.
I also am attracted to the idea of a public suicide. Maybe this negative thought is symptomatic of my depression but it seems fulfilling to expose the world to the negativity I feel so overwhelmed by.
I think they just...won't care or even encourage you to finish the deal.

Some public suicides made news and even hosted on youtube . For example: Budd Dwyer and Slobodan Praljak (NSFL). The first man shot himself in the head on TV the second one drank cyanide in court.
As a final question: if you wanted a video of your suicide to spread, how would you go about it? Commiting in a public space and hoping for a bystander to film? Streaming on social media? Commiting in front of a few and hoping they proliferate the video?
I think doing it in front of a few over the internet is the safest option if you into that sort of thing. Doing it in a public can end in a botched attempt, as for Budd and Slobodan the gun and the poison worked for them well but jumping which is the most common way to commit a public suicide is very risky . You can land on the wrong part of body and end up a vegetable or the first responders manage to knock you down/talk out of it and you'll be locked in a mental ward.

No, if it were up to me I would like to make my body disappear too and leave everyone in doubt.

If you want a recording of your suicide to get onto the internet, there are really only two ways. Either stream it on a public website and hope someone shares it, or ask someone on this website to record it as you die for them on a Discord/Telegram videocall. I'd be willing to do it for people, as long as it doesn't get me in legal trouble.

Sometimes I find myself fantasizing about it but I am aware people will turn it into a meme anyway just like with ronnie mcnutt so what's the point in doing so. Even worse if you fail the attempt, goodbye to your whatever job you would want to have because everyone will think you're some freak and will spread it.Brutal.
I posted some of my attempts on ig stories and I regret it so I just hope everyone forgot, deleted pretty quickly too literally never do it because you will cringe for the rest of your life if you fail

I have depending on my mood - but the more suicidal I am the more likely I am viewing them. But I look at methods that would be similar to my own and imagine me going through those final moments. It's almost educational and reasurring

Hey all, I'm curious to hear your opinions on recording and sharing videos of suicide. I personally find myself watching videos of suicide when I feel particularly distressed. I think part of it is an attempt to familiarize myself with suicide so I can slowly build my way up to having the courage to do it myself. Another reason I think I watch recordings of suicide is as a sort of vicarious living (pun intended) / wish fulfillment.

I also am attracted to the idea of a public suicide.

I think streaming or public suicdes are a personal choice. If it has meaning to you, then you should be able to do it. But you need to be responsible. In the same way you don't hang yourself in a playground because kids will find you, you should do the streaming on a channel that might expect to see such a thing.

Maybe this negative thought is symptomatic of my depression but it seems fulfilling to expose the world to the negativity I feel so overwhelmed by. I find it distressing seeing happy people walking about their day and in a cruel kind of way would like as many people possible to see me die. Does that sound as horrible and selfish as I think it does? It doesn't seem fair to be surrounded by happy-go-lucky people while I suffer and my perhaps illogical thinking would like to spread the suffering around.

And on the opposite end of the spectrum I consider how a recording of my suicide mighr affect my family and the possibility of them having to relive my death however many times.
How it affects your family is all part of considering and taking responsibility for the impact it will have

As a final question: if you wanted a video of your suicide to spread, how would you go about it? Commiting in a public space and hoping for a bystander to film? Streaming on social media? Commiting in front of a few and hoping they proliferate the video?
As I understand it - when I have inquired Telegram - is the place most likely not willing ot intervene in the streaming of it - but that is all I have been told

The good side of suicide videos is purely educational and practical in nature where those who are thinking about a particular method can judge with the help of the video how suitable it is for them and how "peaceful" it is. You mention happy people walking down the street - you can be sure that at least 80% of those apparently happy people are deeply unhappy, but they live their lives along the line of least resistance and try to act happy. If it is their choice that fulfills them in some way, I personally have nothing against it, everyone decides for themselves your way.
I won't do it, but I'm planning to take SN and seeing a SN CTB made me very comforted about mine when the time comes.

Agreed!
Where did you see the SN CTB video? The one I tried to watch was poorly streamed and blocked.

I find myself seeking out suicide recordings when I'm feeling especially bad myself. I plan on some kind of hanging for myself and I generally stick to videos I can imagine myself performing. I think that becoming familiar with the process and what to expect will make it easier to pull off for myself.

As for recording, I would really like film my own suicide If it weren't for my partner. I'm just so worried about her finding me or the video.

I had a friend a while back who offered to watch and record for me but I ended up postponing.

I've been ideating a lot again lately and feeling terrible. I've been watching a lot of hanging videos. Some aren't even suicides, which I know is a hot topic on this site. But even the fetish videos are educational for the process.

And for my own video, if it were to end up on a fetish site? I feel like I deserve it

I never thought I would watch one, but then saw recent one on here (only been lurking for about a month and recently joined) with ctb on SN and out of curiosity watched it. I wanted to see whether it was peaceful and something I could consider. They recorded it for educational purposes, but I still felt I was wrong to watch it. I guess like others have said, I also consider it quite private and would not record mine. It seemed peaceful to me and looked pretty fast but you still never know what they were actually feeling.

I"m a private person in life and CTB is so personal. That and I'm afraid someone I know will find it.
