With the whole Hantavirus thing going on, I was wondering what I would do if another pandemic happened. Honestly, I was 16 when the COVID pandemic and lockdown started, and I remember being scared at the start and then after a month I started considering it as a very long vacation. Yeah, I liked not going outside and just staying home watching TikTok. But I got too comfortable not speaking to others, so after the lockdown ended and we went back to schools, my social anxiety grew even more than before and any social skills I once had got wiped away and never came back. So if another pandemic happens, first of all this hantavirus is more fatal than COVID was so I'd be more scared of it, and secondly another lockdown would probably make me lonelier than ever and more likely to ctb.

But also, I'm a bit fascinated with events like these that interrupt normal society. I don't know why, it just fills me with a form of anxiety and excitement. That must sound horrible since if this truly becomes a pandemic then people would die. But it's not really the fact that there will be deaths that excites me. It's the fact that it would cause interruptions in our normal society.

Hantavirus won't cause a pandemic under any circumstances. It's entirely a nonissue.

I will see that as a sign from the universe to not delay my CTB anymore.

i don't like the selfishness regarding the topic (in general). i feel like people take being healthy, comfortable in their homes, secure enough in their work etc. for granted whenever this topic comes up as it's always "ill just stay in playing video games". it makes sense that talk of disease outbreak brings individualistic thinking to extremely high levels, but its a bit disheartening to see even tho i know thoughts don't always define you. i guess as long as someone doesn't brag and actually respects health protocols, it's fine if they're sheltered.
im really bad with words, sorry. i think this comes across as a bit shaming or holier-than-thou.... not my intention, i was making an observation is all but i dont know how to make it sound less snobby... lol sorry

if you're part of the privileged laptop class, a pandemic definitely affords you nice luxuries.

i mean the reason so many of us can WFH pretty much fulltime in peace nowadays is thanks to the covid era.

This one doesn't spread via airborne so probably won't be as big as Covid

Won't happen but in an ideal world I'd love to just catch something and die from it. Might be painful but with the mortality rate you'd be pretty much settled.

Personally, I loved the pandemic with my whole heart. Being able to hunker down at home and not having to with the world or its bullshit was glorious.

Sadly Hantavirus won't end up being another pandemic.

I suppose I'll have to go back to hoping an asteroid hits earth and takes this world out.

I'm disabled and bed ridden. Have been since 2022. I will not contract hantavirus, I have been in quarantine for years.

I'll refer to it as "social distancing" even if my disease is not communicable.

I was planning to move out and leave the country entirely this year assuming I don't ctb. So I would definitely be quite upset if another pandemic were to happen.

I would hope it doesn't turn out like another pandemic...I know a lot of people enjoyed being in the house but I feel like the world is starting to misremember how awful that time was. Many people lost jobs, entire businesses, friends, family, homes, and their own lives. Some even ctb from the pain of the loses. Others still haven't fully recovered, from the trauma of it all to still having long covid symptoms. We're 6+ years in and so much about the world is worse. Another pandemic before we've fully bounced back from the first would be devastating and scary.
