Why can we not just call it something gentler. Ending our life/suffering/terminal illness on our own terms. It just seems such a harsh word with so much stigma.

Is this not your Sat night party night Matt? My friend came to keep me company tonight but they're long since in bed snoring away gently in their own wee happy bubble, I can't remember what that is and I'm back to black. The vodka doesnt help.

(it links the first place i read it too so i wont link that as well)
anyway for the answer to 'why is it called suicide' like most if not all english words it came from another language that got mutated over the years into what we have today

as for the idea of calling it something else, i can be for that. the idea of wiping the slate clean and starting with a new word and new vibe behind the meaning, yeah, thats an awesome idea.

Its a natural phenomenon in both human and animal. It will not ever stop, so why make it so negative. Religion added the guilt and the fear. I try let believe some mental health issues can get better with the right help, bit when you've struggled for over 30 years or are terminal, it should be kinder and not so harsh. It nice to have a forum to be open on and hopefully not trolled. Else more people who are prone to paranoia will become more I'll as a result.

Some of nature is just so beautiful though, the mountains, the sun set, the sun rise, the flowers, volcanoes even though they're voilent, the sea. To me it's humans that destroy it and make it unbearable, greed, destruction, pillage. Etc

Yess, it is!! I'm having some fun but at the same time kinda mad at this nonsense life lol.

I hope that vodka can make you happier somehow!

Yes, I know what you mean. When people say 'committed suicide', the word commited has connotations of a criminal act and suicide certainly isn't that. I like the term 'freed themselves from their pain' as that is what suicide essentially is. This term being used may mean more acceptance and more compassion.

Ive never liked the term committed when it comes to suicide, you have committed an act of crime in killing one's self, but surely if its an act towards yourself its not criminal?

What a childish complaint. A rose by any other name would be perceived to smell as sweet.
