It sad to know that even in Switzerland, the right to die is still taboo. It really shows how the elderly are treated. She was a nurse and saw the suffering that comes with old age. I'm glad she was able to go on her own terms surrounded by the people she loved.

Thank you for sharing the article. Euthanasia should be legalised everywhere, it is cruel how the society in the UK expects people to suffer against their wishes. Suicide should not be so stigmatised and I wish we lived in a society where the right to die is respected. Old age is something I certainly want to avoid, it sounds horrible watching yourself slowly decay physically and mentally. Rest in peace.

We should have the right, everywhere in the Universe, to choose when and how to die, to die without suffering, to die in peace...

We should have this right, the ultimate freedom, because no one asked to be born and under unequal amounts of birth, quite simply, without additional reasons!

We should have this right, because we believe that our life is over, that we don't want to grow old, become more and more disabled, tired... in short, of having lived our whole life without problems, and of dying, before to have health problems, suffering for example.

The Pro-Lifes are torturers after all, they force people wishing to die before their natural death, to suffer, wither, until they die, against their will.

The fact of having to wait for nature to kill us by natural death, knowing what awaits us, pushes desperate people to die by their own means (trying to suffer less), to die even earlier (by their wishes later, if euthanasia would be legal) for fear of losing the ability to CTB, and often dramatically, with suffering...if they cannot afford to do so in a country where it is legal or where it is refused (good health, not enough illnesses, psychiatric illnesses...).

Yeah, but WHICH and WHOSE God? If God is so loving and compassionate, then why are so many of us hurting so badly? God being all-powerful and omnipotent, didn't see what we would need to be happy in life and provide it. There is something very wrong with their views about what God wants. Your god does not dictate my damn life.

If there is a god, it has abandoned us. I think that it is a less bleak reality if god doesn't exist.
