I am considering buying this book, written by Dr. Nitschke & his wife Fiona Stewart. They are advocates of the right to die. Before I buy it, I thought that I should come to this forum to ask if anyone found the book useful.

The January 2025 version is widely used here for information about Inorganic salts and they also have information about insert gas method. It lacks information about most commonly used methods like hanging, drowining or jumping or even firearms.

if those are your methods of interest i wouldnt recommend it. U might want to look at "The Complete Manual of Suicide" by Wataru Tsurumi its alot older than PPH so some things might be outdated but for my method of choice (hanging) it let me understand it a bit better.

I found the book useless; everything is so vague. also i do not understand why he continues to discuss Nembutal, when it is virtually impossible to obtain nowadays.

I feel like the PPH was designed for old people. The whole section about overdose most likely wouldn't work on a young and healthy individual. Same for insulin, chloroquine etc. The parts about hypoxic death methods are valuable though

Isn't this pinned to the top of the forum? I wouldn't recommend buying it if you can pirate it.

I would not call it useless.
If you're like me and have had suicidal thoughts for a long time but never really researched or explored possible methods, i think the book is great as an introduction.
I'd read it for the information, but keep in mind the lack of access to some of the methods.

If you had read it, your last attempt never would've been done lying down, and it probably would have been successful.

Yes, it certainly is. Not easy to miss.

I have two of his books, and I think they're worth reading. [Note: I obtained them before they were illegal here.] I am not sure how helpful they can be at present. I don't know if circumstances have changed. It seemed to me the best things were to try to get Nembutal in Mexico or Peru, and the thing would be to say you were a vet who needed it to put animals down. I can speak a little Spanish, but probably not enough, and my social and street skills are atrocious.

Philip Nitschke really tried to help people have autonomy, and paid a serious price for his convictions.

Is there going to be a new edition in January 2026?

I really don't know. It seems like Philip Nitschke might be on some kind of blacklist.

At present, it's possible to acquire euthanasia in countries like the Netherlands, Belgium, and Switzerland, but if you're a foreigner, your best bet is Switzerland - and even then there's a lot of red tapeworms (and money). (I am not sure but because of how badly Australia treated Philip Nitschke, there might be interested parties who want to prevent him from getting his message out there.)

I have read that it might be possible for Canadians to be granted peaceful assisted death for mental illnesses in 2027. Hopefully, more countries will follow suit.

I'm Canadian and March, 2027 isn't soon enough. I don't know why they couldn't change it to 2026. They will probably vote against it anyway. I hate that we can't end our suffering humanely.

Any chance for someone to upload it here? Especially up-to-date SN protocol is of interest.
It's not available in PDF. You have to (pay and) login to a website. I tried HTTrack to download the site, but that doesn't work. It's possible to make (a lot of) screenshots, but videos and links won't work. My subscription should have ended Dec 7, but I can still login. I expect the account will be closed Jan 1.

Edit: It appears the Dutch version got another update on Dec 8.
