it brings me so much peace!I do like the show, but I hope the real afterlife is better.

We could create a thread under the new philosophy sub, I bet many people on this forum would be interested (although spoilers would definitely be a problem). Also I was literally watching the show when I read this post lolI only have a few months left but I swear I wanna start a Good Place discussion group it brings me so much peace!

I love the idea of being able to spend however long you want finding peace and enjoying your time with loved ones with a healthy body and mind and then moving forward when you see fit. That's ideal to me

Well not comforted, because Home, Heaven is MUCH better than the show depicts. But it is a good show. Is a new season out? Long time no see by the way PrincessInWhite, I've missed you. <3

I cried my eyes out at the last episode. My mom on the contrary wasn't imbued with the ending. I guess she wanted the show to answer the big questions: who created the universe, why, etc. Given that she believes in reincarnation, the ending doesn't fit in her beliefs.
But for me, it was the only right depiction of heaven. If it really exists but doesn't have the concept of the Door, I don't want it.

Literally shows the perfect version of the afterlife. If there's an actual omnipotent deity, they'd be stupid to not be running things the way the show does at the end.

Oh I absolutely loved the philosophical parts of the show and especially "what we owe to each other".
And yes, how even the happiest, most fulfilling and perfect life is meaningless without a known "end". That knowing, life is not eternal, but has finality to it, actually gives meaning to the time that we do spend living.
I believe that that also explains why many of us feel relieve when we acquire the necessary tools for our preferred CTB methods.
Once we know that there is a way out, an end in reach, many of us live more intentionally and feel that relief.
The show was extremely comforting on so many levels.

OK so I just finished watching The Good Place and I am mind fucked.....I know this sounds stupid but I'm really starting to rethink everything. This show changed my perspective a lot but not all the way. Oh and I also bawled and cried like a baby at the end and had a full blown panic attack.
One of my favorite shows! The ending hit me hard, cuz that's how my previous relationship ended ("Leave before I wake up" part)Love it when Michael explains how time works to Chidi.

The ending gave me a full blown panic attack and I was like........wait they got a point it's funny because life in the physical world is meaningless but in the afterlife it's TOO meaningful, if everything is perfect, it's boring? Doesn't excuse slavery, genocide, wars, and rape. I wish the physical world could be more like the middle place. You know not perfect but not cruel eitherSimilar threads
