I think about this often.

What makes me want too die is knowing that I will never feel any better about myself, as my misery keeps getting worse.

It's about quality of life really, and absolute oblivion apeals too me alot more than living a life of broken dreams and misery.

When you die, you cease to exist, just like before you were born.

I get it totally. When someone asked Mark Twain if it bothered him that he was going to die, he replied no more than it bothered him before he was born. Or something to that effect. Yeah, the nothingness is so appealing.

I think I get what you're saying here; please correct me if I'm wrong. If I understand you correctly, you're saying that death is literally nothing, or nothingness ( non-being). As such, death is incomparable to life. Thus it is meaningless to say that being dead would be "better" than being alive. This would be equivalent to comparing apples to oranges". Is that what you mean?

There's no way to know, it could be better, could be worse, could be nothing. You will only know when you're there. Don't think about it too much, we will all be there eventually.

I see death as non-existence and the lack of ability to be aware of anything. I wouldn't really think it is better or worse than life, it is simply just not feeling or existing at all (and not perceiving any inputs nor producing any output such as interacting with the world).

Right, I figure if I don't remember being around before I was born, it's likely I won't know when I'm dead either.

Honestly I would take Oblivion for sure, but if afterlife when I'm dead there is a spiritual side where no pain and suffering exists then I'm also on board with that for sure also, but either case scenario I want in one or the other I'm not picky or choosy I will get what I get when I Hang myself and whatever I'm dealt with, I will be in peace either way!

I don't know if you have any religious beliefs or not, but from a Christian perspective, the Bible compares death to sleep. Like one of those dreamless naps where it feels like you just shut your eyes for a second before waking up again, only four hours later or so. The dead are completely unaware and have no sense of time, before the Lord will raise us from the dead, and transform us into our glorified, incorruptible bodies, that will be perfectly suited for eternal life on the new Earth, where we are no longer susceptible to pain and death. Since the dead have no sense of time, however long it takes before that happens will only feel like an instant.

Either I get to sleep like I love doing or I get to restart my life, either way I'm happy about it. But on a serious note, we don't know anything until we're dead, so we either believe what we want to help us sleep better at night/when catching the bus or we just sit in misery, overthinking what could be.

I believe in reincarnation so this is especially true for me. I don't want to exit life until I'm an old man, anyway so it's not too much of a dilemma for me. Ultimately I cope with it by saying that for the most part we are all still animals, and as such we are weak and prone to all kinds of mental traps, and that is just the way life is. It's not good or bad ultimately speaking, it just is the way it is. At the same time I am not going to just lay down and die if I can fight and overcome. Which is what I am striving for.

So if you want to face this problem head on what you have to do is address everything in your awareness and your situation. And the best way to do that is to not try to reinvent the wheel, but learn from the masters before us. Do self development, take some psychedelics to open your mind, confront your fears, take some medications if you have to, help others. Nothing is more meaningful in life than helping others to end suffering. Or you can just end it all and end your life. The choice is yours. But as someone that believes in reincarnation I don't think you want to end it prematurely if you don't have to, otherwise you could be just prolonging your suffering and others suffering until you take on full responsiblity for your actions and even others (like a leader, and alpha male). You either figure it out in this life or another. And there is no guarantee that you will ever have as much of a chance in another life. That is my thoughts on this.

No one truly has the answer besides the dead or those that were among them. If you want my take on it based on my experience, there is nothing afterwards. Only a pitch black abyss, there is no sound, no light, no pain, no people, and no gods or angels. It is like sleeping, but with a fleeting consciousness. I have studied various religious and spiritual perspectives on death and I was not surprised to find out that they were all false when I died. The very reason why people abhor the very thought of death and do not want to discuss it is because they are afraid of the truth. They are afraid that their life is absolutely meaningless, where as meaning truly does not exist. Like many things, it is an idea, a concept created by humanity. Meaning is something which humanity tries desperately to ascribe to things in order to stay sane and keep order/control. In this world there will always be suffering, the world itself does not generate suffering rather the inhabitants and so called rulers of it are the source of suffering. Humanity will continue to commit the same mistakes, until they become the very reason for their own extinction. A series of questions comes to mind: Why should you prolong your death if the world is such a shitty place? Why do you have to continue living and for what exactly? Why do people fear their own mortality? Why do anything at all? The vast majority of people don't even think of these questions at all nor do they have a response for them without being contaminated by the thoughts of others and society as a whole. People are afraid to question things and think for themselves because deep down they all know that the real answer to those questions is one they cannot accept and want to fit in with the rest of the drones. Human life does not have anymore worth then the dirt and stone upon which they stand on. There is nothing special about humans at all, they are animals just like the rest despite the way they treat other animals.

Do you mind sharing why you think not having any experience at all, if that's what death is, would be no better than the experience of a painful life that motivates someone to want to end their own life?

Nothingness is like a safety blanket full of absolute resolution. No more worries, no more problems, no more hurt, no more hate and chaos. Life has made me into a bitter person I don't like to be and nothingness would undo all that being a kind clean place where it would erase all the disgusting feelings and painful memories that makes me 'me' and become one with the endless Void. Think of it as a new beginning that'll envelop and embolden your being with indifference. Unlike this world death doesn't discriminate and accepts your faults and imperfections.

No more being stabbed in the back by people.... that's better than life.

Most people look out for themselves even if it means fucking over someone who didn't deserve it. I am going through this right now.
