I was part of different forums in my life. Nothing came close to the SaSu experience. I will only talk about one forum to protect my privacy.
There was time I was lurker on a German suicide forum. But ironically it is dead. I can remember I tried to register with my mail over the phone. I wasn't very experienced with my phone. Accidentally I pressed the register button way too often. And my registration was considered spam. Well with my high need to express myself the forum might would not be dead now.
The administrator asked me send him my pass with picture to prove that I am not a troll. And obviously I didn't send it. I was pretty mad at myself for fucking it up but I couldn't change it.
Then I was member of an international psychosis forum. And I have to say this was also a pretty bad experience. I started to text with a borderline woman. It was the first time I chatted with a woman. The communication became toxic pretty quickly and she wasn't able to control her life at all. But this isn't the reason why it was a bad experience. It was my fault for wanting to connect with her. I should have read more about this condition for wanting to become her chat friend.
I can remember quite some things. People mocked me for wanting to receive assisted suicide on this forum. There were some psychotic men who acted pretty unrestrained and sexually harassed women. One time I was very open with my feelings and made myself very vulnerable. And someone else commented something like that the text sounds sort of cringe and she wished there was a seperate forum for such texts. Moreover, despite the fact I was probably more self-aware than most people on there I was treated like the insane one. For example because I talked openly about my suicidality. There were really some extremely insane people on there who had live psychosis pretty frequently. And the whole forum was full of delusional content written by very delusional people. In this instance I have to agree. The forum wasn't that helpful. The insane people rather reinforced each other in their paranoia. But maybe this conlusion is a little bit too strong. Critics of this forum say the same. Personally, I don't think this is true about SaSu though. However, I think people on here should be more aware about the possiblity that the one person they are talking to might be delusional. I saw some threads on here created by people going through psychosis and the people who commented didn't understand that. Overall the SaSu experience is so much better though. I also heard horrible stuff about reddit. I read some stories on here. And I don't want to try it.
