How does drinking alcohol affects your suicidal thoughts? I noticed that every time I drink alcohol I start thinking more intensively about killing myself and I talk with people around me about a suicide. Yesterday I was telling my friend how I would kill myself and I told him what type of rope I would use and how you have to tie it. When I was going back home I was looking at the river and just imagining I am drowning.

It definetely exacerbate the urge to do it for sure, makes sense since drinking takes away your inhibition.

Makes me want it to be done already even more and i just freak out about the thoughts that have been eating me alive till i pass out.

What a coincidence, I feel the same way; it gives me a certain euphoria, making me think I could actually do it. But a few weeks ago, I did the same thing for the first time, only I told my sister, I talked to her about SaSu and the SN.

By the way, keep in mind that I took clonazepam that day.

I love your profile picture <3
I also take psychiatric drugs. I've been taking citabax daily for six months so it definitely affects how I react to alcohol

I feel so much more free and less in my head…..which makes me want to impulsively commit lol.
Suicide is so much easier when you're not hesitantly thinking on it.

It always will increase your suicidal thoughts for sure. You're so lucky to have a river near where you live. I would have jumped since long ago.

Not too peaceful but effective..

Alcohol will make me talk about suicide more because I am a yapper when I get drunk. However, it actually decreases my ideation because I also get giggly and think maybe life is not so bad or I straight up fall asleep.

Personally yeah it "worsens" them. Really the only times I have even attempted to ctb, I was very wasted. But Its a problem of drinking for me, I tend to feel like shit so I drink and it just goes down that road the more I keep going. Or if i were to be somewhere with people I get the urge to go away, leave early just alone to allow those thoughts in. I guess thats why If Im ever certain I could just make it much easier with a bottle.

Alcohol lowers your inhibitions. Since suicide is on your mind, you end up talking about it. You know you shouldn't, but once you start drinking you can't really stop. Or rather, you don't want to. It just took a simple fact for me to stop drinking.

Alcohol makes you feel great, but it can't make you happy. It's impossible to make anyone happy with alcohol. All I want to do is be happy.

Since alcohol is a depressant it more often than not makes me end the night feeling sad and sobbing, even if I was happy and free earlier. Lately yes, if I drink more than one drink it will increase my SI so I have tried to stay away from it. But gd when I end up a sobbing mess all I think about is how everyone would be better off without me and I randomly think about all the stupid arguments Ive ever had and all the times I've effed up.
