Maybe you have your favorite ones.
Or spotted some unusual ways to CTB.
Or even noticed some detailed instructions in mentioned above.
Please, feel free to share

Nine Inch Nails "The Downward Spiral" comes to mind
I thought NIN was a shitty 80s band after two songs of their album Pretty Hate Machine. I gave that album a try and instantly fell in love with it.
Its a simple story in song form about a guy killing himself. Its very theatrical, energetic, and dark. A lot of angst. "Hurt" covered by Johnny Cash is a notable song on there as well as Closer.

I've been listening to a lot of Alice in Chains lately, and goddamn, the album "Dirt" hits really hard. The title song on there is super metal lyrically filled with addiction, depression, and hatred. Some of my favourites are "Down in a Hole" and "Would?"

"Down in a hole" still pops into my head randomly from time to time after all these years..Crazy how Layne went out. They said he was already decomposed when they found his body.
Another scene that randomly popped in my head a few days ago was in Dances with Wolves when Kevin Costner goes to get his transfer approved from an army officer that is in the midst of some sort of mental breakdown and the officer stands up and says "I HAVE JUST PISSED IN MY PANTS,AND THERE IS NOTHING ANYONE CAN DO ABOUT IT!".Then he blows his brains out..I don't know why, that part always gave me a good chuckle.Kind of disturbing at the same time,I suppose.

Manet's "Le Suicide" comes to mind.

Arguably the best known artistic visual depiction of suicide. Revolver shot to chest.

Painted shortly before the artist's own death, it's currently in a small collection in Zurich, lots of images online if you care to Google.

Avid film watcher when given the chance/time. Low key wish I could share a lot of film with someone special... Probably isn't the time to get into loneliness.

心中天網島 / Double Suicide (1969) - Best if you look up a summary of what Shinjū is prior to watching the film. There's a new master floating around by Criterion.

回路 / Pulse (2001)

박하사탕 / Peppermint Candy (1999)

Mar adentro / The Sea Inside (2004)

A Single Man (2009)

The Virgin Suicides (1999)

ペタル ダンス / Petal Dance (2013)

いのちの深呼吸 / The Depature (2017)

東京暮色 / Tokyo Twilight (1957)

죄 많은 소녀 / After my Death (2017)

별들의 고향 / The Stars Heavenly Home (1974)

Right of Way (1983) - Not exactly a movie and that should be clarified.

아가씨 / The Handmaiden (2016)

올드보이 / Oldboy (2003)

---

I might update this when I get a chance to go through my film tracking site. Super tired and it's also early in the morning.

For books... the only book I've read recently is 人間失格 / Disqualified Human (lit.) and I thought it was really good. The Bell Jar from Sylvia Path is not correlated with suicide, but she did kill herself after publishing it. Same with the book I previously just mentioned. Anything philosophical I'm really out of the loop but I remember reading Hume's essays on suicide.

@mesohappy and @nihilist_fool I woke up the other day with "Man In The Box" in my head - hadn't heard it in years, I remember when it was on the radio constantly. You two are taking me on a trip down memory lane mentioning NIN and Chains. That is wild about Layne, I didn't know his body was decomposed when they found him. Poor guy. It was pretty crazy how Kurt from Nirvana went out also, with the shotgun and heroin. I still wonder about that details of that.

"The Hours" shows the story of depression and suicide of Virginia Woolf. It's a very nice movie with a beautitul and melancholic soundtrack by Philip Glass.
Melancholia is another movie about depression.

I know Sylvia Plath's "The Bell Jar" was made into a movie but I wasn't aware that Virgina Woolf's was. Checking it out tonight!

Twin Peaks also has a suicide, since we're on a Lynch discussion.

One of my favorite emo bands (TWIABP) has a good song of how no one gives a shit about suicidal people until a celebrity dies.

The first title that comes to mind is Tolstoy's Anna Karenina. Karenina commits suicide by throwing herself in front of a train. The scene is utterly terrifying, her anguish leaps out from the pages and grabs you by the throat, as you struggle to keep on reading.

The second is Madame Bovary by Flaubert. The eponymous character kills herself by taking arsenic - an excruciating death and a fitting ending to a torturous life.

The third is Ophelia from Hamlet. When people talk about death and suicide in literature, they immediately think of Hamlet, but I always felt Ophelia's destiny is equally, if not more, tragic.

Here, is a beautiful pre-raphaelite painting of Ophelia drowing herself, by Millais.

Was thinking about Anna Karenina myself. But I do not like Tolstoy much. Style is not of my favourites. Never read Madame Bovary, but like Shakespeare

Suicide by Edouard Leve is a short book about, well, suicide. It should be mentioned that the author killed himself shortly after giving it to the publisher.

Doesn't treat the theme upfront per say, but is accurate enough to reflect the mixed emotions of beauty, missed opportunities, waste, just twisted poetry derived from a shortened adventure with its share of joking struggles. The visuals speak for themselves and are confonding. That ending view facing the shore with the grass in the wind is a call to fly towards a blessing peace.

All this night listening to Daughter - New Ways. And now repeat it again.

Worst I bring
I have a dirty mind
Oh, I need, I need new ways
To waste my time
I need new ways

Worst I bring
I live alone, alone, alone
Worst I face
Keep me inside, I need new ways
To waste my time
I need, I need new ways

I'm trying to get out
Find a subtle way out
Not just cross myself out
Not just disappear

I'm a huge fan of art and music and I just found this thread. I also have a somewhat morbid fascination with death and suicide as I'm sure most of us here do. Here's some art I've found that I enjoyed. I'll probably be back with more from time to time.

The music of Joy Division comes to mind. Lead singer Ian Curtis hung himself at the age of 23. The band only has 2 official studio albums, so it's easy to digest. Both albums are quite remarkable and beautiful. Here's a video for one of their songs that you won't find on their 2 studio albums:
