Suicide by self strangulation?

I'm attempting suicide by self strangulation, I've done a fair bit of research into using the night-night method or similar to cut the blood flow from the carotid arteries. My main idea at the moment is to get socks, place them under a cord/cable which is wrapped around my neck, then pull the cable above the top of the bed frame for tension and use a wooden spoon where the cable has been wrapped in order to tighten it like a tourniquet. Any thoughts or suggestions are more than welcome!
