The man who just wouldn't die

Rasputin-1290x1904

Some people may have 9 lives, The Russian mystic Grigori Rasputin had 27. Rasputin was not a popular man and a group of noble conspirators were sent to end his life. Rasputin refused drink and food laced with poison only to be shot four times, beaten, and flung into a freezing river. An autopsy revealed he died of hypothermia(although the bullet in his forehead didn't hurt either). 😏

SUICIDE BY CHAINSAW

1746296797458

A man cut off his own head with a chainsaw in a carefully thought out suicide because he was "irrationally opposed" to leaving his repossessed home, an inquest heard today.

David Phyall, 50, had consumed a small quantity of alcohol but no drugs, and arranged the chainsaw in such a way as to facilitate his suicide.

His elderly parents John and Jean Phyall raised the alarm when they could not contact their son in his ground floor housing association flat in Bishopstoke, Hampshire, on 5 July this year.

Police were called and they broke in asking the parents to stay outside.

Sergeant Mark Carter said he found Mr Phyall in the lounge with blood spattering the walls, floor and a cabinet.

Central Hampshire deputy coroner Simon Burge said to the officer: "It must have been a huge shock to you."

Sgt Carter replied: "In some ways it was sir."

The hearing heard that the block where Mr Phyall had his flat was to be demolished and despite great efforts from his housing association, he had refused 11 offers of alternative accommodation.

Eventually it had gone to court to repossess the property.

At the time of his death Mr Phyall, who had suffered from mental illness and attempted suicide before, was the only person living in the 1960s block with the rest of the properties boarded up.

Recording a verdict of suicide, Mr Burge said First Wessex Housing Group had done all they could to help Mr Phyall but he was "irrationally opposed to moving".

"In the 15 years I have been sitting as a deputy coroner, this is the most bizarre case I can recall," Mr Burge said.

"It is an appalling way to take one's life but that is what happened in this case.

"He thought through how he was going to commit suicide very carefully. He went to a great deal of trouble.

"I think he did it to draw attention to the injustice of his situation." 🫣 🤨 🥵

King Pyrrhus

Illustration of Pyrrhus II in ancient armor and helmet, facing right. Vertical lines fill the background

King Pyrrhus of Epirus was known for his military campaigns against Rome (giving rise to the term "Pyrrhic victory"), but he met an unforeseen demise in 272 BC. During a street battle in Argos, as he engaged in combat, an elderly woman threw a roof tile from a rooftop that smacked Pyrrhus right atop his head. No, he didn't die from being hit by a roof tile — but when he looked up to see where it came from, he was stunned by an enemy soldier who fatally stabbed him. Sounds like, in the game of life, Pyrrhus lost the battle AND the war. 🥴🥵😬

The Duke Of Clarence

George-Plantagenet.jpg

Born in 1449, George Plantagenet, the duke of Clarence, was the brother of King Edward IV. After the king had refused permission for the duke to marry, George began to plot against him. Edward, wise to his brother's treachery, had the duke arrested and charged with treason.

He was brought before Parliament and accused of preparing for rebellion. Both houses of Parliament passed a bill approving his execution at the Tower of London. There were lots of ways he could have died. Popular execution methods at the time included hanging, drawing, and quartering as well as burning at the stake.

But George Plantagenet was a royal. Perhaps that is why he was allowed to choose the manner of his own death. His choice was somewhat unusual. He is said to have chosen to be drowned in a vat of his favorite wine.

Well, if you've got to go . . . 🙄🥴😖

Cops stumbled upon a horrific murder-suicide when they arrived at a Massachusetts home to find a man cutting his own leg with a power saw.

Police in Plymouth, Mass. had been called to the house late Monday by concerned relatives.

When they opened the door, they witnessed Keith Lincoln pick up a circular saw and cut into one of his legs causing "serious injury," said District attorney Timothy Cruz.

As they continued inside, they found a dead woman and two dead dogs, police said.

Lincoln, 49, was rushed to a hospital, where he died from blood loss.

It was not immediately clear how the woman died, but police are investigating it as a murder-suicide.

Authorities said they would have to rely on dental records to confirm the woman's identity because of the condition of her body, The Boston Globe reported.

Officials did not know how the dogs died.

Neighbors said Lincoln lived with his wife, Jettie, and that the couple had moved from Vermont last year. 🫣😮😫

A 29-year-old employee for Horizon Air sparked panic Friday night when he—for some unknown reason—decided to take one of the airline's Bombardier Q400 turboprop airplanes from Seattle's airport and go for a ride before crashing it in a sparsely populated island nearby. The ground service agent took the plane from the maintenance area at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport at around 8 p.m. and flew it around for about an hour before he crashed on Ketron Island In Puget Sound. Although initial reports said the man was a mechanic for Alaska Airlines, officials later said he was a ground service agent employed by Horizon Air, which is part of Alaska Air Group.
The man crashed the plane either because he was "doing stunts in air or lack of flying skills," the Pierce County Sheriff's Department said on Twitter. Pierce County Sheriff Paul Pastor characterized the incident as "a joyride gone terribly wrong." Law enforcement authorities described the man as "suicidal" and said the incident didn't have anything to do with terrorism. The man who took the plane died when the plane crashed but no other injuries were reported on the 230-acre island that has a population of 20.

Stolen horizon airplane crashed into Ketron island. Preliminary info is that a mechanic from unknown airlines stole plane. Was doing stunts in air or lack of flying skills caused crash into Island
— Pierce Co Sheriff (@PierceSheriff) August 11, 2018
Video posted on social media showed the 76-seat plane doing loops and other types of stunts as a F-15 fighter jet followed it. Two F-15s were scrambled out of Oregon shortly after the incident but were not involved in the crash. "Told F 15s made it within a few minutes of theft of plane. Pilots kept plane out of harms way and people on ground safe," noted a tweet from the Pierce County Sheriff's Department. 😯😱🥴

Alexander Bogdonov was one of the founders of the Bolshevik party in Russia and a rival of Vladimir Lenin. He also studied a wide variety of subjects beyond politics: Medicine, economics, philosophy… he dabbled in it all. When it came to medicine, though, he was particularly interested in blood transfusions. The ABO blood groups were discovered by Karl Landsteiner in 1901, and by 1924, Bogdonov was all about blood transfusion experimentation — mainly because he was convinced that blood transfusions could rejuvenate humans, extend their lives, and possibly even make them immortal.
He really, really wanted to be immortal.
In fact, he was so intent on achieving that goal that Bogdonov performed a number of transfusions on himself in pursuit of it— but when he was 54 years old, he made a gigantic mistake: He swapped blood with a physics student who had been exposed to both tuberculosis and malaria.
He, uh… didn't survive...
The student ended up fine, though. 🥴😞🤭

A Swedish man has died after doctors failed to spot a toothpick stuck in his throat.

The man, who was in his 60s, accidentally swallowed a toothpick while eating a sandwich, The Local reports.

The next day, he was taken to the emergency room after having trouble swallowing. However, the doctors who examined him failed to find any problem and sent him home.

Ten days later, he developed a hole in his windpipe and an infection that required emergency surgery. The man hemorrhaged during the operation and died the next day.

If you're not familiar with British T.V...

You may not know The Goodies (I didn't). It was a sketch humor-type of show written by three British comedians; it ran in the '70s and early "˜80s. In 1975, a bricklayer named Alex Mitchell was enjoying a skit in which a Scotsman, clad in a kilt and all, was fighting off a deadly black pudding using his bagpipes. It struck him particularly funny and he laughed for 25 minutes straight. His heart finally gave out and he collapsed on the couch, according to his wife. She later wrote The Goodies to thank them for making her husband's final moments so merry.

MAN DIES FROM EEL INSERTED IN HIS BUTT

A man has died after a live eel was inserted into his bottom for a joke, according to recent reports.

The 59-year-old chef from Sichuan in China had apparently passed out after a heavy bout of drinking and friends inserted a 50cm Asian swamp eel into his rectum for a bit of fun.

However, the joke wasn't so funny when the man died after suffering severe abdominal pains. Doctors who performed a post mortem on him found the eel in his rectum where it had reportedly gnawed at his intestines, causing heavy internal bleeding.

Practical Fishkeeping reported a very similar story last year in which a medical journal revealed that surgeons had removed a live eel from a man's rectum.

The man had suffered from rectum, intestine and spleen damage following the insertion of a 50cm swamp eel which he claimed was introduced to "relieve constipation."

The eels are not the only fish to have been removed from patients. In 2008, Practical Fishkeeping exclusively reported that doctors had removed a live fish from a boy's penis after it "slipped" into his urethra while he was holding the fish in his hand, while simultaneously urinating and maintaining his aquarium. 😏🥴😜
