Very true. First we are slaves to nature, then we are slaves to our environment (such as having to work just to die someday). There is no freedom in life no matter how you try and bend reality.

I like the ending where he is actually happy he is about to die. He's had enough of this world and life and is glad all of his problems are about to be over with.
