From what I've heard he succeeded. He did traumatize a few students though. I wish one day I could be as brave as him.

My senior year a kid in my high school ctb'd in front of one of the classes. I don't consider the utter trauma and fear he left ALL OF US with (let alone the kids in the class) to be brave. I'm suicidal and respect that others are too. But I will not praise people who do it, especially in ways that cause so much trauma in others.

Yes I agree, I wish I could overcome SI like him, but I would pick a method and place carefully to minimize the damage I cause.

I get seeing others overcome SI and wishing to be able to do the same. I feel that way too.

I kinda had something similar happen to me somewhat recently. In the span of a few months two people ctb'd in front of a train I took frequently. Almost every day it was bizarrely tempting to just step out in front of the train. I'd never do it, I could never do that to the train conductor and something that public is the exact opposite of how I want to ctb. But hearing someone else did made me feel some weird camaraderie.

To me, jumping sounds like a terrifying way to leave this world, I know that I could never ctb that way. I think that someone must be very desperate to be able to ctb that way. Rest in peace, at least those who are gone are free from all their suffering.

This is one of the reasons why assisted suicide/euthanasia should be allowed. Because if someone is so determined to die, they will find a way and it could be a very violent and painful way. It's better to let someone die with dignity than to back them into a corner and have them go to extreme measures.

Of course. society will just pivot to therapy/medication/COPIUM in the false hope of curing someone, but eventually, we will have to accept the fact that like with most physical life threatening illnesses, you cannot cure everyone's depression.

According to witnesses he jumped impulsively. I wouldn't be able to jump either, I tried to jump once (from a much higher place) but SI held me back. I tried to muster my courage and just do it but I couldn't.

of course bystanders will say he jumped impulsively because they see what they want to see

they have no idea how long he spent thinking about it and planning
