If the regime is mostly followed, even without benzos, there shouldn't be any excruciating pain.
The only catches that I can think of is that some governments do wellness checks, restrict the importation of the substance, or have sale prevention.
The theoretically most painless way to go would probably be N or a barbiturate, but those are illegal where I live.
The information threads and the pph are the best sources for knowledge about it.

Well depends on where you try to get it, it could be illegal, or like Wrath already said you get wellness checks. Findind a source can also be somewhat complicated depending on location.
But if you get clean stuff it should be mostly deadly even if you skip steps in the flow. But better research that real good before doing it.
