Can marijuana be used as a sedative for sn?

I've asked this before to be sure that (chemically and such) it would be fine and got a lot of mixed answers. Sorry this isn't much help.

Can you handle not having a drink when you smoke? Someone pointed that out to me and that got me. I'm weak lol

As sedative, I do not think so.
But it could to be helpful to relaxing yourself.
