SN Shelf life?

I was wondering how long you guys think my SN will be good for. It arrived in a plastic bag, inside of another bag, in a box. I took the SN bag out of the outer bag for a few minutes and then put it back, but never actually opened the SN bag itself.
I store it in a box in a drawer, away fron light or moisture.

I don't plan to use it for a very long time - it's just kind of my safety net right now - so i was just wondering how long i can feel confident that it would still work?

Most people say SN is good for about 3 years, but it might be good for longer if you keep it safely stored. Mine came in a plastic jar with a screw on lid, inside of a plastic bag, so it's hard to say how far past it might still be usable.

could the bag be placed in something that is much less permeable to extend its shelf life?

Store the unopened plastic bag in an airtight glass jar away from humidity. This isn't absolutely necessary, but it will maximize shelf-life. Oxygen can penetrate plastics over time, so the extra barrier of the airtight glass jar will guard against that. (Another option would be a mylar bag, though glass still might be the better option of the two?)

Glass will block oxygen and water vapors from passing through. Not sure about the lid though.

Thank you time to find an airtight container. Would i put the bag in the container or dump the bag into it?
