Hey all,
If you had to choose between a handgun and SN, what would you pick? I have means to acquire both right now.
Thanks

Hmm, I would probably chose the firearm.
Having to actually pull the trigger would be very hard to do, and I am not even certain if I could pull it anytime soon.

Still, I would prefer this over the experience of SN or any kind of poisoning/overdose. From my own and others experiences, I just know that laying around 15 minutes while seeing and feeling your skin slowly change color and experiencing how your body dies, all while having to stay calm and not call for help is just not a good time.

SN is a good CTB method, but every method that has a longer time window between ingestion and unconsciousness is prone to make me panic.

If you're hearing loud noises (or experiencing anything at all), something has gone badly wrong... pain signals move at around 200 feet per second within nerve endings in your body. A bullet like a common 9mm can move at speeds of 900 to 1300 fps. Sound does move very fast, but there is a delay from the bullet leaving the chamber and the sound it creates. Enough that you would never get to hear it. Likely the last experience a person would have, is the click of the trigger.

i guess it's just the sound of guns in general, since i've never been to a gun range or been around guns. it makes sense that i wouldn't be alive long enough to be able to hear the gun. most people die immediately. a while ago one of my friends from high school met up with me and she was showing me a rifle she got and it was really heavy and also really loud. i got too scared to shoot it since i wasn't used to how loud it was.

Given a choice probably SN. I can't aquire SN in the USA so gun it will have to be. And I'm going with a shotgun not a handgun

This is what is alluring about the gun for me but also kind of scary. Like it would be very fast and would leave me no time to change my mind or have SI. But the sudden transition from existence to nonexistence is what makes me think twice about a firearm. I would have to be very drunk to do it
but every method that has a longer time window between ingestion and unconsciousness is prone to make me panic.
This is also what I am worried about. I have tried to OD on pills when I was younger and right after I took them I had that panic "what have I done" moment which caused me to get help. I doubt it would have worked anyways but I'm afraid of that instinct kicking in again with SN and it being another failed attempt.

US. Gun friendly state

True. I would plan on being in the wilderness. That way law enforcement can find me rather than a housemate or neighbor.

If they are lucky enough to die instantly, then yes.

I have both. I tend to think SN because I don't want my son to have to identify a mutilated body. But then I think about it and lean towards using my firearm because I don't care to suffer any more than I already am (chronic pain issues due to injuries from an accident and old age). So, I dunno for sure -- guess we will just have to wait and see.
