I think this is an intentional tactic used to keep people from being a copycat. There's been way too many news articles saying Nitrate for it to be coincidence.

Autopsy: Medical examiner rules Florida Polytechnic University student killed himself
LAKELAND — The death of a student found last December on the campus of Florida Polytechnic University has been ruled a suicide. Dr. Stephen Nelson, medical examiner for the 10th Judicial Circuit, determined that Joshua Barton intentionally ingested sodium nitrite, an inorganic salt used as a food preservative. Barton, 29, was found in a wooded area on the Lakeland campus on Dec. 6. Nelson performed an autopsy the next day, and his office sent samples to the University of Florida Pathology Laboratory, which forwarded them to a laboratory in Pennsylvania for a toxicology analysis. The Medical Examiner's Office received a report from UF this month.

Man, 28, found dead with woman, 24, in AirBnB cottage double-death tragedy
A man from the Midlands has been found dead alongside a woman in an AirBnb cottage. The double-death tragedy saw the 28-year-old male's body discovered with the female, aged 24. Police in Scotland are investigating the double-death of the Stoke-on-Trent man. Brett Stevens and the 24-year-old woman were found at the holiday cottage, reports StokeonTrentLive, our sister title. Police Scotland are not treating their deaths as suspicious and investigations continue. Now an inquest has revealed that Brett was living in Stoke-on-Trent before his sudden death. The identity of the woman has not been revealed. North Staffordshire assistant coroner Sarah Murphy said: "Brett Stevens died on December 5 at a holiday cottage in Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire. "He was identified by police officers and the brief circumstances are that he was staying in a holiday cottage in Scotland. The presumed cause of death is sodium nitrate toxicity."

Soton student died after consuming 100 times the safe dose of sodium nitrate
A University of Southampton student died after consuming a fatal amount of sodium nitrate, an inquest heard. Wira Wahyudi Sinuraya was found unresponsive on his bed by his housemates on February 14th this year. The 21-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services, who were called to his home on Honeysuckle Road. At Winchester Coroner's Court on Monday this week, an inquest into his death heard how a toxicologist found the level of nitrite in the student's body was over 100 times the expected concentration.

Really? I personally don't think there is that level of forethought or collaboration behind it. I think it's just an easily-made typo (as well as an easy verbal mispronunciation) that just slips past the spellchecker by virtue of both variants being a real word.

I dunno, I suppose either way is possible. We'll never know for certain. I do know there's a reluctance to discuss suicide methods or to even list it in the obituaries.

It just seems odd to me that so many articles would make this typo. I have seen a few where they said both trite and trate in the same case so again it's probably a bit of both.

Oh yes, certainly there is a reluctance to describe methods in news articles. In fact, some media codes of practice specifically prohibit this, presumably to deter copycat behaviour. I just can't see deliberately misspelling a method as being part of that approach.

Jesus, you seem so aggressive about it, so what if somebody made another thread about it? If you are not interested just ignore...

I, for example am glad they made another thread to be among new ones, because I wouldn't even think too look for such a thread but I'm glad I saw this one, and it wouldn't have happened if someone didn't make a new thread about this. Thank you for making it❤️

As explained -- because I told person to read several times and they clearly did not .

There is a reason for this . It did not come out of no where ;)

* I don't mind more threads , I had written specifically , read my post

Someone may want to read whole articles, not just shortened versions.

I already written more threads/discussions are welcomed and that wasn't the problem . In any case the point you raised was also addressed on the first line of the news articles thread .
Googling the headline will bring up the whole document.

One should note that news are less reliable than documented cases .
