  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

sn is legal in the UK. With a welfare check, I would not say anything. In one case, 6 cops went to a house; in another, they got a warrant over in no time and tried to break the door down.
SN is not my choice but people are trying to scare others IMHO.

Does the police in the UK have nothing else to follow up on? No other crimes?

And? They're still going to perform a welfare check. While I'm not exactly versed in the rights of police or citizens alike, if you still have access to it, and absolutely refuse to hand it over, I'm fairly confident that they can end up forcing you to receive a mental health assessment if they deem it to be necessary.

Great until, as you say just a sentence later in your post, they get a warrant.

...what would be the point of this? Either:
  • ...you think that they are hyping up their welfare checks because they've ordered SN - again, what would be the point? People are literally just posting their experiences.
  • ...you think that these welfare check reports are fake. They're undeniable at this point and people have posted proof.

because the police doesn't care what's legal or not, they go by their own rules.
also arresting people for offensive facebook posts, meanwhile ignoring violent crimes in the street.
don't expect rationality and common sense in england

Your account was made on April 2nd. You absolutely fall into the "new member" category.

Yes it does. But I am not saying that people come to my house to try to take away my SN. Ever since the investigation started in the UK suddenly police is going door to door for new members that state that a website that has been down is now back up. I may have mental problems and be the an idiot, but not to a certain point.

Idk if you noticed but in the last years police has been very zealous on the most petty things while oblivious to the real hard crime. There are more and more reports of police literally going to homes and arresting people for FREAKING TWEETS or any other shit they might have said in the internet. Even more, its really sad to see 6 police going to arrest an old man for saying something in the internet.

I think there was a law passed for this? I remember an interview with 2 german politicians and 2 british ones and the british ones literally said that freedom of speech isnt something people should have.
