All we can do is make assumptions. You will have to Test it with a nitrite Test kit (Aquarium supply) to get a better idea about the quality of your SN.

SN is supposed to be stored a cool cabinet away from light. If you want to verify that its still safe to you then you can buy test strips from amazon, aquarium test strips.
