Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Isn't it always better to aim for asphyxiation rather than broken neck when hanging?
If you aim for the latter with a high drop, and it dosen't kill you instantly, I guess it would really be painful until you finally die.
And since there are many vairables such as the drop height, lenght of the rope, how it is tied, there are many places you could wrong.

I always thought death by asphyxiation (hanging) won't be THAT painful - like similar to being choked out in BJJ, for example - you lose conscious after 10 seconds or so and then you just die peacefully since you wouldn't be 'let go'. Am I wrong?

In order to acheive this (and to avoid pain/risk of breaking my neck) what if I slowly squatted down from a chair from its edge (or just slowly lean into it), then just slolwy take my feet off, one leg at a time. Would this process be much painful? [for more context, if it is relevant, I was thinking tieing the rope on the doorkknob, passing the rope above a tall door to the other side and using a chair about 50-60 cm high.

I would be thankful for any thoughts or advises on how to make haning less painful and more effective. (incl how and where to tie the rope)

Kind regards,

Everybody feels and evaluates pain different. You can easily find out how painful hanging is for you. Step slowly from your chair, if the pain is unbearable step back. You should only do it if you really want to die because there is a high risk that you don´t survive this manoeuvre.
