Shotgun Reassurance

I think I'm within 3 weeks of CTB with a 12 gauge shotgun and 00 buckshot in the mouth pointed a bit up.

I have zero gun experience but I'll be buying a shotgun and learning to load and testing a few shots at a gun range to understand the trigger pressure, safety, etc

Looking for some reassurance. I know the answer, but for some reassurance, I'll be out no issues, correct? I mean, people die from small brain aneurysms, falling and hitting their head, etc. I got 9 metal projectiles and an enormous explosive blast slamming into my brain from 2 inches away! I'm good right? I really don't want to try and assemble a fucking nitrogen exit bag system!!

Do it right and my understanding is it's the closest to a sure thing you're gonna get, it's my out too I picked the shortest one they had on hand (a Mossberg maverick 88) and I've got pretty long arms so no issue there

I would like to do it too. It has a very devastating power and in the mouth it should kill you. I think it is useful to shoot yourself in an isolated place. If no one finds you for hours you die even with a deflected and non-lethal shot.

You've got the highest probability of death by using a 12ga shotgun loaded with buckshot, in the manner you describe, out of ANY OTHER method of ctb. It's going to be a gruesome aftermath, no doubt. Do some reflection and make sure it's what you want. You owe that to yourself. There's no going back.

For me, I'm gonna use 1oz slugs. But still 12 gauge.
From what I understand about 00 Buck, it doesn't scatter meaningfully from a distance of 6 feet.
So from the distance of from the muzzle to the back of your throat, it would be the same penetrative diameter as the slug, but with less power.

Yeah, unfortunately I have to not care about the aftermath. Just literally can't care about it in order to CTB. I should be found by first responders so hopefully they are more able to cope with the aftermath

I am tall but I do question the length of the shotgun in terms of being comfortably and reliably held for the shot and I don't think checking that out while purchasing would be too cool, lmao. I'll look into that 88. I also don't want it to be too short and awkward.

Yeah no they're not fans of rating them by mouth feel lmao. Be careful about legal lengths and all that but at 6'2" I have a bit of room to spare with being able to reach the trigger. They're common (found it in a smaller shop) and cheap I think I got it for 200-300 USD years ago.

You'll be able to find one at 18 inches. I'm 6 feet 0, my Remington 870 has an 18 inch barrel and it's perfect.
As long as you know basically where to aim, the shotgun will do the rest. There's a reason it has the highest rate of success.

I know, I laugh when I imagine myself sitting in a chair in the gun shop and placing rifle butts on the floor and checking for vertical shootability!

Not a dumb question if you don't know the answer.
A shotgun slug would destroy your brain. No chance of survival. Instant unconsciousness and near-instant death (we're talking seconds to a couple minutes at generous MOST).
Zero pain, instant success. The tradeoff is the mess it leaves behind.

I'm down with that, that's exactly what I want. Any appreciable difference between a slug and 00 buckshot?

With being so close... 00 buck and a slug will both get the job done. Heck, bird shot would work also; doesn't really matter.

And I'm still pro exit bag but as I got into it, it's pretty technical and there is room for error for someone like me. I loathe guns. But shotgun in the mouth, upward to the brain, press the trigger and it seems kind of foolproof. Aftermath won't be my problem. I feel for the 1st responders who have to deal with my body but this is, very unfortunately, just one of the very inhumane ways we're forced to go.

I can't access shotguns in the country I'm in, but I've often thought about it since they are very effective. I'd prefer to do it outdoors but if I had to choose indoors, I'd line my room with garbage bags just to help the first responders as much as possible. Thank you. I have to remind myself that I'm actually very fortunate to be able to easily buy a shotgun as I live in the US. I know options are much more limited for others here
