Shotgun to the head would mean zero suffering, as long as you aim right. But it's messy, SN doesn't leave a mess. And with SN there's a chance you'll be saved in the few hours it takes to kill you, especially if you don't follow the instructions right.

As far as I can tell the reason SN is so popular is that is is pretty binary in that you either die or you suffer no long term complications. A shotgun to the head is peaceful if successful but you could be left in a far worse state physically if you fail.

If you really want to be sure you could maybe combine both? But overall, I'd just do shotgun alone if I had access to one. I had access to a magnum last month but I didn't end up using it because if I was gonna use a gun it would have to be shotgun.
