While I intend to CTB eventually, I'm looking for things to pass the time while waiting for that day. Given my (and most users') situation, I tend to gravitate towards media that have suicide or mental health as a central theme. Here are some I liked, looking for suggestions too.
Movies
1. On the Count of Three (2021)
It's a dark comedy about two best friends who agree to kill each other after spending one last day. I liked how this movie handled the subject matter with respect despite it being a comedy, and the main characters' motivations are portrayed quite believably.
2. 'Night, Mother (1986)
This movie is about a daughter calmly telling her mother one night about her intention to CTB, with most of the runtime being dedicated to their ensuing back-and-forth.
Songs
1. Frightened Rabbit - Die Like A Rich Boy
I love this song as romanticising things is core to my character. The singer wishes for his death to be more theatrical and grand in contrast to an implied rather unassuming existence.
2. Billy Joel - Tomorrow Is Today
My username's origin, this song was apparently written as a suicide note outlining the belief that life isn't worthwhile if we can't change our situation.
Games
1. Night In The Woods
It's been a while since I played this, but I recall it to be sort of a meditation on the impermanence of things. It's about a college dropout with failed dreams returning to a town far from what she remembers in her childhood.
2. Omori
I just started this a few days ago so I don't have a full picture yet, but I love how this game deals with guilt and longing. The protagonist's dream world in his head resonates with me as someone who has maladaptive daydreaming.
