Hey everyone,

I have a question.... i am now 6 months self harm free. I have a hard time right now and i want to relapse so badly but once i do in 2 days everyone knows it. I have a boyfriend who sees me naked.
If i relapse i dont want that he knows that. Do you guys have some ideas for places he won't notice?

You've done so well getting to 6 months. What have you done that's worked for you in taking the feelings away when you've wanted to cut ?

My best advice for you would be to stop doing it.
I hope you can sort this out.

Hugs,

Matt

There is no place where he wouldn't notice. I know that because I used to self harm too. It wasn't deep cut but I had little scars on my arms for more than one year. So I had to listen all stupid speeches and watch the sorry looks all the time.

I figured out that this bullshits from my family after they recognized it wasn't just from playing with my lovely dog are not worth it. So what I do now is using only my nails instead of scalpels and knifes. I have just little scratches on my back only for some hours so nobody can notice.

Well done on the six months, that's soooo good! You're clearly strong enough to go another six..
I really hope you find something to get you through this, but if not, when I lived at home I used to cut low down on the insides of my ankles and always wear socks until they'd healed sufficiently.
Much strength to you, friend.

You've done so well not self harming for six months and proves you have some very strong inner strength, if you can keep doing what worked for you in the last six months. Just take it a day at a time, even an hour at a time if you need to, it works you've proved it already, and you know you can't hide it from your boyfriend. I really hope you can carry on and do another six months. I wish you the best.

I'm in the same exact position. I know this isn't what you want to hear but it's actually a great thing that we have significant others to hold us accountable. If I didn't know my bf could see me naked and get upset, I have no idea what sort of damage I would've done to my body by now. Sometimes when I really want to relapse I hold ice cubes in my hand. It sounds silly but it works for me.

I have learned to accept my feelings.. so if i wanna cry i cry. If i want to be angry i am angry.

Could you not find something that offers a similar relief that self harming gives but doesn't cause any physical scars? You have done so well to not do it but I understand what it is like when you have an urge to do something to relieve the pain. I wish you well.
