ive choked on a few things in my life and even refuse to eat my spaghetti if it isnt broken because of this. choking on something would have to be one of the slowest, least pleasant ways to go. and im sure im not the only one advising against it considering @I'm fragile 's reaction
on another note, choking on ice cubes is rather entertaining and they melt. HIGHLY DONT ADVISE IT EITHER just a random thing i choked on that was weird lol

I recently wrote about a case study of an actual suicide involving 'self-choking', in the literature at least, they are a rare cause of deaths, deeply unpleasant as well.
Not recommended, even for the very, very desperate. If plausible deniability is important, there are still more peaceful, reliable methods.

it was steak when I was a kid. I swallowed too big a bite. It got stuck, and hurt as the throat contracted to try to dislodge it. My body tried to breathe and force it out, but all it amounted to was violent involuntary contractions. I got dizzy and headaches and felt weak. I felt I was throwing up, but the food blocked it and the vomit burned my throat. It caused me to panic for help since it was suffocating and physical pain. I nearly passed out before it was dislodged.
Your body will force you to panic. You'll be scared, distressed, and in pain. Please reconsider. It's not fast it takes a good couple min that feel like eternity.

thats the problem with choking, there isnt much you can do except call for help and hope it arrives in time
i think (and probably others here) that you should take a few days reading over the methods thread pinned at the top of the suicide section
