• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

In my area there is a 100+ metre high bridge over water that I see relatively often. There is nothing stopping anyone from jumping off it, besides some signs and stickers that nicely ask people to not do so. It is incredibly difficult to keep my mind off it. Sometimes I'll walk across it and drop a rock off the side. A long time ago I had planned to end it that way, but when I stood at the edge, grabbing the railing, I realized I am way too big of a wimp to do it. The stones take so long to fall and all I can imagine is how much longer it would feel if it was me in my final moments. Can it even be considered a failed attempt if I barely tried.

I am worried that when I inevitably tell a therapist about this it will get misinterpreted as being more severe than it actually is, but I guess I will face that when I get there. I will be seeing a new therapist soon and hopefully they will be better than the others I've had.

I wonder if fish would nibble on me if I went that way. I bet I would taste bad.

From a physics standpoint taller is not necessarily more lethal. Because of air resistance the human body does not keep falling faster and faster, 100 mph is approximately the top speed. The angle one hits as well as the surface impact characteristics greatly determine if one is killed or significantly injured. Some spinal injuries result in paralysis.

A person can imagine something and have it become so attractive that they act on it only to discover that they have an outcome they didn't expect. You might want to tell your new therapist about your thoughts so that you might be helped to not let those thoughts grow out of proportion.

I don't think it would be my method of choice if I was actually planning on ctb but it is the one that is easily accessible and I can't avoid seeing it. Honestly I wrote that post when I was having a particularly bad moment and I had to go across the bridge, so it felt really intense then, but it's usually more of a passing thought when I see the bridge.
The physics thing though, I would assume if we had a chart with a y axis of lethality and an x axis of height, the line would rise and then flatten off, right? I haven't looked into it so I don't know. Maybe it is better for me to not know.

I will definitely be speaking to my therapist about it, but I don't think it is first session worries. That bridge has been on my mind for 9 years and it is only on my mind a little more than usual.

Thank you for your reply.
