  • Hey Guest,

A 31-year-old man was found inside his family car, whichwas parked inside the garage of the apartment building in whichhe resided. He was found sitting on the front passenger seat(Fig. 1). Next to it were several items, among which were a preci-sion scale, a bottle of water, a pack of plastic drinking glasses (oneof which was outside the pack and wet), and a plastic jar with"So-dium Nitrite 99%"written on the label. The body was fresh. Theman was seen by his parents for the last time alive the afternoonbefore the discovery of the body. The medical history of the victim reported that the man wasbeing treated with sodium valproate for a depressive syndrome. From the scene, the body was stored in a refrigerated room(4–6°C) until autopsy. After 32 hours, autopsy was carried outto determine the cause of death. Subungual cyanosis of the handsand feet and blue-red livor mortis in several parts of the body werefound during the external examination (Fig. 2A). The autopsy re-vealed a bilateral pulmonary edema, subpleural petechiae, and anintense visceral congestion (Fig. 2B). In the stomach, 250 mL of abrownish, gelatinous liquid were found. The histological examinations revealed pulmonary edema, congestion of the pulmonary capillaries, and intra-alveolar hemor-rhage (Fig. 3A). Stretched, wavy cardiac myocytes and interstitialedema were also found (Fig. 3B). No other pathological micro-scopic findings were found in the rest of the organs. The toxicological analysis was carried out on blood samples col-lected from the femoral vein and from the heart. Serum-separatingtubes and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid tubes were used. The sam-ples were stored under refrigeration (4–6°C) until analyses. The tox-icological analyses were performed 1 week after the autopsy

This guy had a precision scale to measure it out in his car. I wonder what kind of car he had that has enough interior room to fit a scale and measure things into a cup. Cars nowadays are cramped unless you have a mobile drug lab in a white van with the words "Free Candy" on the side.

Judging by the photo, his car is also cramped. "Precision scale" surely refers to some cheap digital kitchen/jewelry scale that can probably fit in a pocket. Next to him there is a device that looks like smartphone, but could easily be the scale in question.

I wonder if this poor guy was a forum member.
