I'm too weak to just jump in a river or slit my throat, so I'm gonna ask about a method I thought of.

In short, barricading a room shut so I can't leave, putting no water in there, and leaving myself to sit around until I eventually die. If I truly change my mind, I can make an emergency call.

Are there any obvious holes in this plan I'm missing? Anything I should know?

Many things can sound viable in theory, that don't work in practice.

Your own biological needs and instinct will override your desire to not be here anymore. You will inevitably cave to your need for hydration and sustenance.

Dehydration is also not a pleasant way to go. You can do your own research on to why that is. You have the whole internet available to you.

VSED is usually only used for the terminally ill because the body is already dying. It's only speeding up the process.

You're gonna have questions to answer when you make that call. And the consequences of that will depend on who it's made to. And that's assuming your phone still works.

You'd be wasting your time.

Yes, you are missing the fact that you are ruled by your biology and your body and mind will not tolerate more than a few hours of sitting in that room without water unless you are already clinically insane. You are severely underestimating how difficult it actually is to kill yourself in that way, but it is most likely that deeper down you don't actually want to kill yourself and are subconsciously choosing a method that you know will result in failure.

It takes weeks to die of starvation. You think you can sit in the same room for weeks, smelling your own waste, while slowly going mad from hunger and thirst?

As others have stated, that "plan" would take more strength (which you claim not to have) than you can imagine.

this happens in metamorphosis by franz kafka except he's a big bug. i think this method only works if you get turned into a large beetle. additionally, wouldn't your room have windows? i don't think you can feasibly barricade yourself inside your room unless someone on the other side pushes furniture in front of your door.

Would be actual torture. I get why it seems appealing though, but really it is not easy to will power ur way through survival instinct, especially for willing starvation & dehydration. I remember when I was younger and tried dehydration to see how long I could last without caving and could never make it through to the 3rd day fully no matter how hard I could try. Pls do not try this especially if you really have no way out of the room

I wouldn't suggest either example you've given.

Jumping in water is no guarantee, likely not death on impact so you'd have to drown. Could be relatively quick if you empty your lungs and inhale. But your instincts likely won't go along with that.

Slicing your throat would be a pretty traumatic way to go. You have to hit the right spot which is relatively well protected. Again, you'd be fighting your instincts.

Locking yourself in a room would not go much better. It would also take time, and much of it. You'd likely have to descend into madness before your instincts give up on wanting a necessity for survival. You'd also have to make your room impossible to break out of and soundproof if there's anyone else around.

Of these 3 examples, dehydration is probably the hardest to pull off. People who've tried have often gone weeks by tappering off food and drink. But still had a few sips a day because there's no way you could stop cold turkey. You certainly wouldn't die in a day.

It's worth checking out the resource topics.
