As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.
No not every forum is available to the public, the ones who ss the restricted should be banned no problem. Once you make yourself part of the community, you should definitely be banned since you took the time to get into those restricted forums and leak out private posts
I'm a new member to take this with a grain of salt, but I think the content with the attached screenshots should be assessed and if mocking or any kind of negative connotation should warrant a ban. Not only does it ruin the screen of safety this website gives (at least to me) but it's incredibly rude and hypocritical to come into a website (because I'm assuming you need it too) and making fun of people struggling or at their worst. It can also risk someone being found god forbid, I've seen a few members give some specific information (no personal details) and putting that on a general platform a lot of people know about or can access can increase chances of being found out or even targeted by others online. Imagine finding a thread on another website of you being made fun of because you're at the worst you've ever been, for some it may be the last straw.

Why is suicide considered such a shameful topic? Why can it not be discussed openly without it being considered wrong? Why is it wrong to consider suicide if one has a degenerative illness that has robbed a person of their life? Why why why …
Depending on the content and its ability to negatively impact users or the community. Temporary ban for screenshots of content that don't have the potential for causing harm. Permanent ban for everything else.
I have a question. As some of you know, there are members of this community who take screenshots of entire threads from the suicide subforum and share them with other boards for laughs and entertainment. I have made this forum private, intentionally, with the goal to shield us from negative attention so these people are essentially bypassing my attempts to protect this community. And I want to know your opinion. Let's say we find out who some of these members are. What should we do with them?
I think taking screenshots of your posts without your consent and sharing them in other boards for the sake of entertainment is not only disrespectful, it also conflicts with the idea that this forum is supposed to be a safe space to talk about your most personal thought and struggles without judgement. They're essentially walking all over the principles of this community that makes it so great in the first place.
I'm curious to hear your responses and I would like to know what the community expects us to do in such case. Thanks.

Posting something on the internet means that it's recorded forever on a platform you have no control over. On a site that isn't exactly small, has media and government notice, has its own Wikipedia page, and simultaneously exists on the clearnet, why would I be surprised that something I posted here... ends up on someone else's screen? Forum and webpage scrapers exist.
How would being surprised a recording of something posted here even begin to make sense?
Progressive warnings. First time, simply a warning. Second time, temporary ban. Third time, longer or permanent ban, depending on how apologetic they are, what they shared, and other behaviour of theirs. But definitely not just tolerate it. A permaban is extreme, but so is more than 2 stern, clear, warnings for the same offense with temporary bans to emphasise the seriousness
Honestly, this but starting with a temporary ban right away in my opinion. Maybe just a one day ban or something. It's harsh, but it sends the message of how serious it is.
I guess it's a matter of opinion how serious it is, but a lot of us see this as the only place we're safe to talk openly. I support giving multiple chances, cause everyone fucks up sometimes. Maybe it really could be an honest mistake/misunderstanding sometimes. But they need to understand the gravity of the situation
I would say warn them or give them a temporary suspension and then ban if they continue to do that
I think it would be easier to ban them especially if they are not smart enough to change up their digital footprint while doing *that
(*posting images or copy pasting text of this forum to other sites for non educational purposes / not for the purpose of (people should ask for permission if they do that I think or at least credit the site or author of the post or have text stating that the original poster can contact them if they would like it taken down) those who would like to get some kind of help or aid on the topic of this site or recovery when it comes to the topic of this site without making an account)
(2* for example on an archival site this forum is linked but for educational purposes or connection for those who were in a similar forum/group like this in the past that is now gone
and the creator can be contacted if any archival info on the site would like to be added or taken away by request and you can tell it is not used in any nefarious ways or to make fun of or gawk at the users here)
but also like with other people said in this thread maybe it just comes with the site being
?somewhat public?
and maybe not having the site around in different places both positive and negative wouldn't help with making this less of a taboo or shameful topic
so now I am not really sure
maybe it is much more layered and complicated than what I originally thought the more I think about this issue
(sorry for long post and rambling hopefully this made sense to someone/anyone)
I would say the same as the first commentor said. Warning, then temp and perma ban. If they share something super serious that puts our community in danger, it should be a complete ban from the get-go.
Probably it's because the interface doesn't make it apparent. I see it on top of the list, i see the date of the last reply - i reply too. In the thread itself the date is semitransparent and over a picture - very easy to miss.

We have noticed a significant increase in volume of people wanting all or most of their posts deleted. I would like to make it clear that we do not mass delete a users posts or delete their account from the forum. Doing so would make a lot of threads unreadable. That being said, please be mindful of what you post here because it will stay on the forum unless the posts jeopardize a users anonymity.
Users can request to delete a maximum of 10 posts unless otherwise stated. Thank you.
We should ALL be a family here helping each other out all the time and at least for me if someone is going to betray that trust in any form or fashion forever auto ban them and their address.
I for the life of me, will never understand human nature. How a very few come on here or any site and cause trouble, grief, be juvenile, whatever. In my 68 years here I always ask WHY??
That is the one HUGE aspect that so many outsiders: do not get about this site, is that we HELP each other, it is NOT about ctb as much as helping.

create a special sub-feature in the report section which offers you to choose that one specific report reason ( i am asking of this as an additional thing to the report answer box that is available ). make the reason you know the most common problem for instance " this person takes screenshots " and for eveeryone who anyhow stumbles upon a person like that they'd report that sub-feature. the mods can look into it afterwards or talk to the person who reported why they reported. idk i am dumb so that seems good to me

I think they should absolutely be banned, but what stops them from creating a new account with a different email address?
I think it's now technologically possible to block people from taking screenshots, but how it's done, I have no idea.

true i thought these myself. it's just that not allowing screenshots is easy but you never know when one needs to that for themselves stopping all users from taking ss on the site might even hurt a few.
Ban them and their internet address immediately. Why would anyone be screenshotting Sasu if it isn't for malicious intent? Do we want SaSu to be a similar titillation as wpd for weird people?
As someone who's only recently joined I'd be uncomfortable at the idea some people would screenshot to exploit or mock as I feel that is not reflective of the community.

I think you should ban them outright! Pursuing laughs and entertainment off of people's pain is, IMO, disgusting! People who come here (legitimately) need loving support.
Suicidal feelings are not funny! Needing help and support is not funny!
Please ban those who seek to destroy!!
I am clearly late to this party, but for whatever its worth-- I am someone who has been lurking and terrified to engage for probably an entire year because I am not entirely sure how to safeguard not only myself, but also my loved ones once I am gone. I say BAN. from the get. maybe a follow up warning with some parameters? But I really feel the integrity of this site should be protected at all costs, above all.
