Someone I know currently has shrooms with them and invited me to try it. I've heard that it gives some people an epiphany of some sort. But it can also lead to terrible trips. To be honest, I'm extremely depressed, and I'm afraid that taking them will make me feel trapped in my thoughts, leading me to be miserable during my trip. But I've also heard that psilocybin has therapeutic effects for those with depression and anxiety. Is there anyone here who's done shrooms before? What was your experience like?

I was also nervous of this and tried for my first time a couple of months ago (I've only done a handful of times since then). I recommend microdosing at first (no more than 0.5g). Buy a food scale if you have to weigh the pieces of mushroom.

It's not a cure all right away, like I thought it would be. But it's a continual conscious process. I literally decided to try it for the first time BECAUSE I was in the worst place my life has ever been in. Most people are scared of taking it while being in a dark place. Imo there are no bad trips, but there are lessons, which have opened my mind in so many ways. When you take it, go in with the intention of changing yourself and learning. it literally feels like I put in actual hard work, in a good way, whenever I take it. To me, it's not a passive event and I think it needs to be respected.

The few times I've done it, I've learned so much, cried so much in a cathartic good way, and also learned to feel more appreciative and at peace. I'm learning I may need to do it more regularly to manage depression bc it unfortunately doesn't last long for me. I have noticed subtle long term differences in myself though. I'm still struggling with intense feelings of ctb, but that might be bc of my external situations. I do feel like psilocybin has helped but if I decide that I want to live, I need to start getting on a frequent microdosing regimen and I need to find the courage to ask others for help.

I'm not giving medical advice for you to try it, but I would say research what you can. You can also search "mushies" in TikTok to listen to other people who've tried and what their experiences are. (The search words "psilocybin" and "shrooms" are banned on TikTok but the phrase "mushies" works)

I've only taken at most 0.5g and never hallucinated. And never was "stuck." it does make my stomach feel weird though, but I've gotten more used to it. It does still make me feel anxiety before my body starts to metabolize it. Make sure you're in a safe environment and not driving (also don't plan to be driving until you're completely sober, which may take more than a few hours, depending).

I would recommend taking the physical mushroom pieces instead of gummies or chocolate that claim to include psilocybin, so you know you're getting the actual mushroom and no other substance.

If you ever need to talk about this or anything else, lmk:)

Good luck and if you try it, I would love to hear your experiences and lessons learned from taking it!

These are some of my personal lessons (I understand they may not be applicable to anyone other than me):

*We all have different adversities but we all have the same suffering.
*There is no destination in life - even if you have a goal, that's never the destination, it's only a pitstop.
*Instead of holding onto loss, hold onto hope.
*Instead of protecting others from their own suffering, help others to level up
*No experience is ever wasted.
*Embrace the temporary
*Take care of yourself so you can give your best self to help others

I believe that shrooms (and psychedelics) can have a therapeutic effect but it's your own risk, especially in a non-medical environment.

I did shrooms and LSD when I was young (I used them as party drugs) - many psychedelic experiences and never a bad one. I neither had mental disorders nor I was depressed.

You take it on your own risk.

My ex has given me a little bit, which I've been microdosing from, but we recently broke up. I've ran out a little over a week ago. Depending where you live, you can possibly source from insta or TikTok or Google. You can also research how to buy the spores, which you can grow your own. I think buying spores is more legal than buying shrooms, depending where you live

Hmm. I live in OK. I'd have to do some serious research. Don't even have any of those apps. No way I could figure out spores or afford them. I've only tried sativa microdosing edibles. Barely a difference. Sorry about your break up. Hope it was for the best. Thanks though.

You cannot take psychedelics and accidentally have a therapeutic experience... Unless the stars are perfectly aligned I suppose.

In your mindset (referred to as 'set' in psychonaut circles) you are far more likely to have a traumatic experience than anything you are likely to want to repeat.

The two variables you can consider when preparing for a trip are the set and the setting. Set as mentioned is your mental state. Setting is your physical location as well as things to keep yourself occupied during the experience that you've planned ahead. With mindful preparation and experience (including getting experience of others through research) you can indeed have some really wonderful experiences, and some people find personal meaning in those experiences as well.

Personally I just like to see with a different pair of eyes. And I will tell you I haven't put on those glasses in fifteen years because my mindset has been out of my control. All it would do is make things worse if I trip unguided while I am in this place.

In order to do any processing with psychedelics from an already damaged state we're talking about seeing a shaman and uh good look finding one of those. It's not impossible but it's actually more practical to approach your mindset from a DIY perspective than look for a guide to help you through a trip

So how do you approach mindset from a DIY perspective? Basically therapy lol. Do things you enjoy before the trip. Make sure you have things you enjoy, a comfortable place to be, you know. Put yourself in a positive mood on purpose before you set out on a trip.

If you respect the risks enough to take care of yourself, you may have a wonderful experience. I miss them deeply.

It's a very powerful experience and it'll certainly change you, but it's hard to tell in which way. Before taking psychedelics you must know the risks. Read about HPPD. They can also aggravate existing disorders.

I started using shrooms last month. My first trip went poorly and you can see it by reading this super embarrassing thread I made while tripping, lol:

This was because I was both in a bad headspace and I didn't have a scale so I wasn't able to properly dose them. The second time was a bit better since I was texting that old dude during my trip so he was able to calm me down whenever my thoughts and emotions started spiraling out of control. By my third trip, I was able to get the hang of keeping myself in a good headspace and was able to enjoy my trip. By around my fourth trip, I was able to start reflecting more on myself and my feelings but it wasn't until my sixth trip, when I took around 2.92g of penis envy (I think) that I was able to think more deeply about myself and my problems and come to the conclusion that I can change and that happiness isn't something out of my reach. It was genuinely my favourite trip.

I personally have found shrooms to be really helpful and when the high dies down, unlike with weed or alcohol, I actually end up feeling great. I get a nice afterglow. Music sounds great on them, I find that I'm able to appreciate all the things around me more, I reflect more deeply on things, colours are more vibrant, everything is moving around and changing size making where ever I am feel more alive, and it gives me this warm europhoric feeling that I've never felt prior to using them. They also make me feel nauseous, sometimes to the point of wanting to vomit, and I also have to be careful to ensure that my trips go smoothly.

With that in mind, I don't recommend taking them unless you are in a comfortable setting, are in a good headspace, have properly measured out your doses (using a scale), and have a trip sitter with you. They can be wonderful but also terrifying depending on how you are going into it. You also shouldn't use them if you have a family history of psychosis or if you have ever had issues with psychotic episodes. You can also develop hppd if you take them and I think I may have developed it though mines is mild and seems to be going away. While shrooms are generally considered to be safer than most drugs they still have their own risks and require some preparation to ensure that things go smoothly, so if you do end up trying them then please be careful.

Thanks. Would you be open to getting TikTok and/or Instagram, at least temporarily? You can make burner accounts. I would also recommend using Reddit for research and possible sourcing. Idk what sativa is. I'm pretty much naive when it comes to drugs. I don't consider psilocybin/shrooms to be a drug, I think of it as medicinal. But I've never had anything except for alcohol and psilocybin. And psilocybin is still so new to me!

One thing I want to make note of:

If you take SSRIs/antidepressants, shrooms will have a very blunted effect on you, and you may need a double or triple dose to trip.

Yeah I would, if I knew who to hit up? But Im like you and naive. All Ive ever done besides antidepressants was get a mj license and tried some edibles. Lol sativa is a strain of mj. To my limited known, as far as edibles, sativa is the upper. I forget the more sedative one's name. Then there's the combination of the two or "hybrid."

This is where I would go first, as I know a guy from fb,
mycopharm-mycology.com
and then I think I could find a few other sites that ship legally somehow.

You're on the right path about that mycology site. There are many more, but I haven't vetted/tried them out. But it sounds like you're getting warmer in your search:)
small quantities of psilocybin mailed will most likely will have no problem, according to my ex. I can't say it's 100% safe though. Researching on Reddit, TikTok, and Instagram may help too. When there's a will, there's a way😉

Depends on the type of shroom. In 2005 I went fishing on Clearwater beach with a co-worker who was roomates with ECW wrestler Dudley Dudley. DD resting on a wood pylon, like a pelican would. He looked like a giant bearded gargoyle to me. Then a huge tarpon broke the surface of the water. To a normal person, it would have just sounded like a splash. I thought it was a nuclear bomb going off.

But then the last time I took shrooms last year, I sat in a warm bubble bath. It seemed like my whole life and thoughts were in 4K HD. No weird hallucinations.

Damn. I didn't even anything close to that and I was doing two spravato sprays a week. Well I'd trust that site. I know the guy who's affiliated with it. He rallied the Trump Tulsa rally '20 ✌ Party on. I'm sure they'll be able to recommend something where I can be clear and not sleepy. You might ask for Vincent.

I've only microdosed . If I was feeling neutral then I felt more joyful if I'm depressed and do them then my trauma comes out and makes me realize even more that I want to die. So depends on your mindset before hand

I think it needs to be done properly under medical supervision to treat depression.

I tried once and it was an insane experience, I would not wish to repeat. Was some very potent mushrooms in Amsterdam about 20 years ago and I still remember it and regret it now.

Was not a good experience for me.

If you are thinking about killing yourself, have deep anxiety within you, or you are mentally fragile..
Then all other than microdosing, would be asking for trouble.

ESPECIALLY if you are suffering from trauma, nightmare, and panic.
Because shrooms makes your "dreams"( Im talking about actual dreams, like when you sleep) become pretty realistic just with you being awake.

If you go ahead and do it, i would have a "trip-killer" ready. A benzodiazepine will suffice. A fast acting one like alprazolam/xanax or Lorazepam.

Anyway. I would read a lot more before adventuring into something like this.

Thanks for all the advice guys. It gave me something to think about. I'm going to rethink taking them unless I have a trip sitter with me. I was going to do it alone, but now I know I definitely need someone else to at least watch over me.
